I know I'm making this comment a little late since, you know, David Blaine was on T.V. about, maybe a week ago, but after reading all of your comments, I just had to share a little of my opinion. I dont idolize David Blaine. As a matter of fact, was just introduced to who he was about maybe a month or two ago, and before that, I never knew who he was until I was channel flipping and happened to see one of his shows on. But anyway, I dont believe he is anything like Jesus nor God. I never said anything negative about the guy. My point is how people take him and what he does. 7 days in water...amazing! But that doesn't make him anything more than an entertainer. Why did he do it? And why did he do it at the Lincoln Centre of all places? So the world could see. I didn't call him "God" I called him a god. Which is the way that people elevate people above themselves. We do it all the time. But at the end of the day he is a human being like everyone else. There are a lot of positive things to experience in this world. If I cannot be so inspired by a feat like remaining in water for 7 days, no one can blame me for that. It is a matter of opinion. ohh and im sure he could have held his breathe for 9 minutes but of course he added the extra feat of escaping from chains wich obviously eats up oxygen and on top of that he had to hold the chains to keep him standing up wich again caused him to use up more oxygen. But im sure if he would have just held his breath without the other stunts in between he would have made it. Trust me hes the type that would rather die then fail at his stunts. so their ya go, and yes i have experience in this so i know a lil about it

Wow some of you really have jelousy issues. First this isnt a magic illusion, its an endurance challenge, their is nothing different about this then evil knievel stunts or a marathon. David Blaine just lives by a different philosophy then most. He likes to test the limits of human capacity thats all. The truth is...it is extremely disturbing to think that for one second the drones of grass grazers think that what David is doing is predictable, fake, insignifigant or somewhat pathetic! I never post comments but David Blaine is far too incredible a "super-human" for me to not type in his defense. Yes ~ I dare to say superhuman because he has defied the odds and done things that the average, simple mind hasn't even dared to imagine. Not only has he conceived these notions intellectually, he has channeled his spirit in a way such that he was physically able to perform the tasks. Please explain to me (if he is such a fake) how all of those people in NYC were able to walk by each day, communicate to him and get a response relevant to what they had originally conveyed? How do you explain the scientific proof of the medical impacts caused by his acts if it is not true? It's simple mathematics people. You say you are believers of God - Jesus to be more exact - but wasn't it Jesus who said "Whatsoever ye shall pray believing, ye shall receive" ? Could David Blaine have prayed for success, believed in the God that lives within each of us and been granted such? So... in my humble opinion, David Blaine is one of the VERY FEW who have actually taken their faith to another level and allowed it to be used for a higher good - to make believers out of us. Is David Blaine a modern day Jesus? I would say he is a close second. My 13-year-old son respects and admires him, as do I, and in this day and age we need a spiritual leader. Did you not hear the first words he spoke when he emerged from the water - "I am humbled". The week in water, the standing on a pillar over NY, these are all endurance tests and have nothing to do with "magic". I agree...Blaine's a magician. I also saw Teller do his underwater breath-holding trick and was amazed. Blaine's no different. There's no way that he could hold his breath that long after being underwater for a week. At peak physical condition, it would be hard enough. After spending a week under water?!..gimme a break. Most of you posting comments are ignorant or just plain stupid. Holding you breath for seven minutes alone is impressive, but doing it after being underwater for a week is unbelieveable! David Blaine much like Houdini has the capacity to do things that transcend magic. I bet if it were possible to put yourself in his shoes it wouldn't take long to realize how much stronger his mind is than yours. Futher more if what he does is so easy why is he the only one doing it? Especially considering all the attention it brings. Contrary to many people, this is for real. I know for a fact because I helped build it and watched him test it behind the scenes. I hope he doesn't get ridiculed as much as he did in England. He's a really nice guy and great to work with. There is a possibility for him to get ailments, but I think there is such thing as "mind over matter" and he has a lot of that. The only way we'll know for sure is to wait. And, a funny story, when we were putting together the whole set, the ball turned into a huge magnifying glass -- burning the paint off the steel walkway and we even put a peice of cardboard in the light and that burst into flames quickly. just thought I share that with you.
