Good Month for Mets

2006_04_smetslogo.jpgEven though they lost 8-5 to Atlanta on Sunday, the Mets will take the results from the series in Atlanta. The Mets left town with a rare series victory at Turner Field and their first since 2003. In fact, they'll be happy with their April performance, where they lost just one series (to Atlanta at home) and ended up sitting six games ahead of the Braves in the NL East. Yes, it's a long season, but it's still a good start.

Gothamist knows about how well Bobby Cox's Braves teams play in the second half of the season. Also, the Mets' 16-8 record includes a fattening up on the lesser teams (Florida and Washington) in their own division. But 16-8 is still 16-8, and it's not like the Mets don't get to play the Marlins and the Nationals several more times this year. Other than Victor Zambrano's struggles and Jose Reyes's outmaking (though he did walk three times on Sunday!), Mets fans should have little to complain about right now. The Mets host Washington for two games starting Monday.

Someone please give Ramon Castro some love. Shout out to Ramon. Ramon!

  • Huh?

  • I think if aliens landed and said that they will blow up the earth BUT if we can beat them in a baseball game then they will go home peacefully, then the world will choose the New York Mets. And definitely not the New York Yankees!

So what if the Mets fattened up on the Marlins & Nationals...those are the games you are supposed to win and series you are supposed to win and even sweep.

The Yankees had 1 main rival in their World Series winning years each season. They always have had Tampa Bay to beat up on as the Braves always had someone to beat up on.

Wins are wins and 16-8 is, as you say, 16-8.
