They came, they mourned, they left?
Despite predictions from all over of "epic violence" between supporters of the two would-be Satmar sect leaders after last weeks death of Satmar Grand Rebbe Moses Teitelbaum, it never seemed to happen.
Things looked especially nerve-wracking when supporters of Aaron Teitelbaum, Moses' oldest son who runs the Satmar community up in Orange County, came down to Brooklyn and set up tents (see above photo). And yet:
Although there was no resolution to the conflict over which of two brothers vying for control of the Hasidic sect would lead it in to the future, the threat of violence diminished as more than 1,000 members, who had come to the city for a fight, returned home.
What this really means, we assume, is that this fight, despite raging for the past seven years, is actually just getting started. Just that with a half-billion dollars in real estate and other businesses on the line neither side wants lose public face by throwing punches. And so, to the courts!

Good article but you got the names wrong. Zalman is the Brooklyn one and Aaron is the Orange County one.
Whoops! good catch, thanks Bob!
If Aaron had just people from upstate, where did all the Brooklyn people go?
Aaron has people from upstate and Brooklyn. He has 3/4 of the Satmars.
They should gang fight like the 5 points battle in Gangs of New York, the all jew version. They can toss all their hats in the air.
I read that as "OG Satmars."
Represent yo' sect!
As a freelance photoghrapher I had a field day this past weekend with the Hasids in Williamsburg, I went to the Big Synagogue on Rodney St. I was given a tour by a spokesman Mr. Joel A. Brown (who told me he is named after the founder of the sect Grand Rabbi Joel)there where approx. 1500 Hasids in the main hall and Rabbi Zalmen was sitting up front on the seat of his late father, I then went down 3 blocks to the baseball field of the city public school on Lee Ave. where a huge tent was erected there were approx. 10,000 of Aron's followers singing and dancing, I asked somebody who said his name is Menachem Tyrnauer what they are singing he said the songs of the Sabbath, it was an amazing sight to see, I have never seen so much Hasids in one spot, It was awesome, there were hundreds of women standing outside in the street looking in the tent separeted by the chain link fence surrounding the field, I mingled with the much larger crowd here I was offered cake that Mr. Tyrnauer told me was given due to a celebration of the birth of the first Great Grandchild of the new Grand Rabbi Aron a babygirl that was named in the tent, "Nechama" is the new name I was told it means in yiddish "Hope"
Zalman's boys are gonna have their way... tonight...
Our crew is gonna have its way... tonight...
He always was Dad's favorite, that's fact
And if they want a rumble, we're ready to act...
Aaron's crew is gonna hand them a surprise... tonight...
We're gonna cut them down to size... tonight...
We're gonna turn o'l B-burg into a hole
And then the Satmar chief will be in Kiryas Joel... TONIGHT!
