This fundraiser, their sixth annual, benefits the Grand Street Settlement's Youth Programs and features 35 of the neighborhood's favorites. $120 tickets are available at the door, 7-11 pm, Puck Building, 295 Lafayette.
April 30: Dining for Darfur
Join in Andrea Strong's dine out fundraiser this Sunday, when participating restaurants will donate 5% of their gross sales to the International Rescue Committee’s humanitarian relief efforts in Darfur and in the refugee camps in Chad. April 30: Vega Sicilia Wine Dinner at Compass
If you're feeling really flush, you might consider going to this 6-course Vega Sicilia wine dinner at Compass, where Export Director Puri Mancebo will guide guests through some of the renowned producer's finest wines. I don't have an amex card but I wanted to get my film fest tickets early so I bought a prepaid amex giftcard and that worked great in buying tickets online - it's an amex card number after all - do you think that would work with the restaurant promotion too?
i know it's for a good cause, and i hope everyone donates heavily, but doesn't the idea of (and the cheerful logo for that matter), "Dining for Darfur" sound a bit glib? Imagine, "Dining for Auschwitz". Eeek.
