Remember that high dynamic range shot we put up last week? Here's a whole set of them! By compositing multiple images in Photoshop CS2 (or Photomatix-- another program that does the same thing), Automatt was able to get some stunning skyline colors. Lots of shots from the Top of the Rock and around midtown. [Bonus: a fake-tilt shift of a fire taken by Esther, but manipulated by Matt-- very nice.]

Aha, this explains Bierstadt's technique: his stuff is soooo PhotoShopped.
half life 2: manhattan!

Is Adobe paying Gothamist, or what?
These pics in the link on flickr look like they are from the empire state building.
i think photomatix is a free download-- at least, i think there is a version that's free-- so you don't have to pay for CS2 if you want to get the effect.
What kind of camera do you think he's using?
Thanks for enjoying my photos... These were shot with a Canon Digital Rebel XT and the Canon 10-22mm lens. Bracketed two stops in either direction, images combined and tonemapped in Photomatix. I don't use Photoshop.
Where can I get a large print of this?
