The lines at the NJ stations along the palisades is always crowded with weekenders going to the Catskills. Coming back is the same.
It's not worth it, for .10-.15 more might as well fill up in Ulster or Sullivan county.

It's quite interesting how the states with the lowest gas prices all voted for Bush in 2004 and most of those with the highest voted against. I'm sure that was one of his election promises to his oil company buddies... And of course, Dick Cheney's homeland, lowest in the country

What happened to Buffalo? Rochester? Ithaca? I think those cities should exist on the map.

The lines to buy gas at the service areas on the NJ Tpke yesterday were so long some people were waiting literally an hour or more. Cars were backed up onto the exit ramps so far that people who simply wanted to pee and grab a bag of pretzels (me) had to wait and/or cut across a median.

Thank god I filled up before leaving Virginia (at $3.15/gallon).

The reason why gas is cheaper in NJ is because of the low sales tax on gasoline.

On gas in NJ - my impression is that it's probably about lower taxes but also different regulations. Almost all gas is pumped by an attendant from positively ancient-looking pumps.

One of the angles that was reported on when gas first began its climb in price was that refineries are actually somewhat challenged to meet the unique additive requirements for each state, and that they have to make seasonal adjustments as well.

F*CK CYCLISTS! The less gas you buy the more they will have to increase the tax on gas.

Does anyone know why gas is cheaper in Jersey? Is it a tax thing? Or is it just everyone's in such a hurry to get the hell out they wait until they cross the river?

If only the MTA would get off their collective Ferrari buying arses and get bike racks for buses things would improve alot for cyclists who want to go multimodal.
