EARTH DAY EVENT: Earth Day isn't just for hippies. This weekend celebrate our planet at Earth Day NY. Exhibitors will educate you on how to treat Mother Nature a bit more kindly and show you how to find the nature right here in New York City.
All Weekend // Friday noon to 7pm, Saturday 11am to 5pm // Grand Central // Free
EVENT: Hosted by sneaker aficionado Bobbito Garcia, the Global Artists Coalition and Converse will bring their popular sneaker-painting competition to our city this weekend. On top of that they'll be exhibiting a rare display of hip-hop handbills and urban photography. There will also be several innovative performances...all to raise awareness of hip-hop’s past and spotlight its future.
Today and Tonight // 2 to 8pm // Webster Hall [125 E 11th St] // Free
FILM: The Brooklyn Underground Film Festival started this week. Tonight you can Meet the Filmmakers, to be followed by what's sure to be an awkward dance party (made less so by the one hour open bar!)

Tomorrow the festival will be throwing a musical event with Har Mar Superstar, Five O'Clock Heroes,
33hz and The Hunting Party

SUBWAY PARTY: The Hip Hop Subway Party returns to a train near you this weekend. Dance underground to the beats while spoken word artists and emcees entertain you. Added bonus: end of the line is the birthplace of hip hop.
Sunday // 6pm // Starting Point: 6 train at Astor Place, back of the uptown train. Ending Point: Hunts Point // Free
