Two Greenmarkets for the Upper East Side

2006_04_gmarket.jpgGlen at The Oil Drum announces that two greenmarkets on the Upper East Side were approved to go forward yesterday. Glen has been supporting the greenmarkets since October, but worried that local opposition (from Eli Zabar, kind of Upper East Side delicacies, and people worried about...rats) might quash the effort. He observes that having opinions isn't enough - if you support - or oppose - something, you need to show up and have your voice heard.

The two greenmarkets will be on East 82nd Street, one at PS 6 between Madison and Park and the other at St. Stephen's Church between First and York.

If all goes according to plan, we will have both open on July 1st and they will run every Saturday until Thanksgiving. Muchos gracias to all those who helped make this happen.

And I might add that we are looking at a few other sites in the neighborhood. Stay tuned.

Awesome! Will these include the antique & junk vendors that used to be with the marekt on E67th?
