NYTimes.com Was Screwy, Not Your Connection

Ooh, AM New York confirms what we suspected: The NY Times website was down for 4 hours last night. We were blaming it on our Verizon DSL as we tried to desperately read Ben Brantley's review of Julia Roberts in "Three Days of Rain" (aka, "Blame it on the Rain") but gave up after a while - and then the local news distracted us. No word on what happened to the site, but have you noticed the snazzy China Rises website from the NY Times? It's a TV series AND a website from a number of international news organizations.

And we read the Brantley review this morning - and we now know almost as much about him as we do Charles Isherwood, the Times' other theatre critic.

I just want to cast my vote here to say that NY Times website redesign looks like crap. Even after, what is it?, three weeks.

    ick.

You blamed it on your DSL? All you had to do was try visiting another site and you would have known instantly that nothing else was affected. I figured there was something wrong at the Times servers. Sure took 'em long enough to fix it. Somebody should lose a job there. Hey, I hear there might be some doorman positions opening up. ;-)
