People are blaming hipsters for gentrification? I thought hipsters were the dirty kids on bikes who live in Bushwick. I'm just trying to get things straight here. If hipsters are the reason things are expensive in Boredom Hill, then hipsters are the people running real-estate development companies and banks. I'm so glad I figured it out. Dick Cheney must be such. a. hipster. Wow. I guess I hate hipsters too.

Pacifico isn't that great; none of the attached restaurants are that great (Gravy is garbage). If you want a better price and a bigger burrito (and horchatas) go to The Original California Taqueria. It's f***ing soul food for an old Californian like me.

The neighborhood was never that shitty, at least not 20 yearsa ago when I grew up there. You had to watch yourself. Now it's just expensive. SoHo-Brooklyn. Thanks, hipsters.

I've been in the 'hood for about 5 years... I like Pacifico, but then again I also like Lobo which lots of people don't like b/c its also 'inauthentic'. Of course there's also Buddy's (which i think is horrible) and the super cheap tacqueria place on court/bergen (which I think is OK) but truth be told my favorite 'mexican' place (to use the term loosely) in the area is Alma.

I've lived in the nabe for 12 years, and I have to say that the whole usedta-be-dangerous thing is bullsh. Usedta-be kind of a dump, but no more dangerous than most neighborhoods at the time.

Pacifico is good and pretty cheap, as is Mama Rosa's, the fake old-style pizza place it's connected to. Watch out for Gravy, though, which it the third element of that triad -- it's really genuinely awful

Er, well I've only lived in the nabe for just under 2 yrs so I guess I'm one of those people who've 'ruined' your neighborhood. But from all I hear, the place was a wasteland you wouldnt feel safe walking in broad daylight in, just 4 or 5 years back, so how is this a bad thing? Now it's a [relatively but not entirely] safe place to walk with your kids/dogs/etc with admittedly some crappy restaurants but also some extremely good ones (Taku, Saul, Chestnut, Grocery). Pacifico is what it is...grungy, cheap mexican with decent margaritas. I'm surprised to see it profiled on Gothamist, it's not worth that much attention ;)

Ok ok I guess I was being an anti-hipster dick...I apologize...I live 100 yards from the place...I have seen rats...we (locals) laffed when it opened up cause the little froot store that was there was boarded up and was like something out of Tim Burton's sketchbook...but I guess I've seen worse...
But you can't deny the hipster comment...or can you?... I've lived on Smith/Atlantic for 10 years and supported the old places which have all been replaced by "Bartabacs" and "Pacificos"...It was sad to see the rabid and rapid change in the old nabe...way of the world I guess...
But any new place that opens has the "Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome..."what you don't like the new faux Tex/Mex joint"...Come to my neighborhood...but clean up after yourself please...I digress...never had the Margerita BTW

Hipsters? OK... anyway, the burrito is $8 and fucking huge, and the baja tacos are fucking awesome. Also I have eaten there well over 50 times and I have never seen a rat. I don't understand people who feel the need to talk shit about a place innacurately just for the sake of feeling like they're somehow better than those who have a high opinion of it.

Pacifico is one of those places that lures you in with the decor. But good lord, is 'JoeyCee' right. The food is overpriced and the location is very questionable. Lots of rats and the lots nearby have been home to legal and illegal car repair services for years. The soil there has got to be as toxic as it can get for the area.

It's like a tourist trap for locals. I'd avoid it at all costs.
