I don't think a BX coyote will have to worry about any small dogs..every dog I see is a pitbull..

Make sure your when your gramps is in the park that he doesn't mistake it for a dog....nice doggie! heheh..

A fair enough point...I could hardly blame a coyote for mistaking a chihuahua for a snack, most of them do look more like rats than canines. I would have paid money to see the look on that lady's face when the falcon grabbed her chihuahua.

Well, some of those little rat-dogs running around DO look a lot like rodents, if you remember the falcon that picked off some lady's chihuaha in Bryant Park a few years ago. Better to just tell people to keep an eye on little Pfoofie than to have an errant coyote mistake him for a bunny rabbit, then all the imbeciles will come out & start clamoring for an extermination campaign...

"They've been known to eat household pets"?? Funny how I grew up seeing coyotes all the time and never heard of them eating anything bigger than a gerbil. So I guess if you let your pet hamster run around in Van Cortlandt Park, off leash, the coyote will EAT IT!!!! FEAR OF COYOTES!!

It's not so much of a mystery how Hal got into Manhattan-there is a little bridge across the Harlem River at Spuyten Duyvil-it's the Amtrak bridge-it's also wooded along the Hudson all the way up from there, so he very well could have just walked along the river, then gone across the bridge into Manhattan-that's how they speculate a lot of wild animals get into the city-across that bridge.
