Did Jen really originally write that Brad Bird did the Batman series? That's really sad. Noy only does that show how lame her attempts at a nerd-cool aura are, but it also proves what a terrible reporter and editor she is.

But of course, that has been laid out in detail on Gothamist many a time before this post.

I don't think Jen is a Batman TAS fan at all. She's just pretending to be nerdy to be cool. yes, that's what I said. How times have changed.

I don't know, but I just like the fact that Jen is a B:TAS fan (though I guess not a big enough one to know that it's a Dini/Timm creation).

I don't understand why Batman TAS would count anyway. It's set in Gotham City! A made up city. even though Gotham is supposed to be an amalgation of Chicago by day and New York at night it wouldn't count cause it's not really New York at all.

Thank you, Gothamist! For all these years, I've been the only one in my group of friends to recognize the awesomeness that is Batman the Animated Series. You rock my personal casbah for thinking it's cool too, and just generally because you guys are wonderful! :)

When they pulled Homer Simpson vs. The City of New York from syndication I managed to track down a screener copy. I am not sure if it has made it back into the syndication pool yet, or perhaps Fox 5 is not airing it due to the WTC content.

And Ryan, The Critic was a great show.

The Critic had some really incredible New York city scenes, I recall, right down to the detail on the buses. Sometimes I miss that show. Sometimes.

tim - that is the wtc. it's an awesome, awesome simpsons episode. one of my favorites.

homer's getting all these tickets from nyc and wonders why (i believe his car was stolen by barney). so he goes to ny by bus (paid for by bart) and they see zz top (hassidic jews) and the car is at the wtc. so he calls to get the boot removed, but he's supposed to wait at his car at all times. while waiting, homer buys food from a street vendor and many, many cans of crab juice. he then needs to pee (sees a bus with "flushing meadows" as the destination and starts to dream of a meadow with flushing toilets) but there's no bathroom in sight. he goes up one tower only to find the bathroom out of order (or being cleaned) and has to go all the way to the top of the other. when he's up there, he sees the traffic cop back to give him another ticket. after he gets back down, he tries to drive away with the boot on his car.

anyway, the end of the episode has the family driving home behind a garbage truck to "new york, new york" and homer very, very angry.

Brad Bird didn't do Batman TAS. He did Iron Giant and The Incredibles. Bruce Timm and Paul Dini were responsible for Batman TAS. Gothamist is bar none the worst real news source in the universe

But it isn't a "real news" source, as you mean it.

It's a blog and you can challenge errors when you find them.

Why are you so angry? (Or is it just an entertaining pose?)

Brad Bird's Batman: The Animated Series count? Probably not, but it was awesome.

Brad Bird's Batman: The Animated Series?!

Whence does this asserted auteurship originate?

Isn't that our beloved WTC behind ol' Homer there? I'm guessing from where the car is it's Tower One. OK, it's slow at work...
