Subway Supposed to Be Back to Normal

2006_04_subwayincid.jpgThis morning, the A, B, C, and D lines had some problems due to a police investigation at West 81st Street. The MTA now says service is back to normal, but we'd expect some slowness.

And we're hearing that the "police investigation" is because someone was fatally hit by a subway train.

"Police investigation" announcements on the subway virtually always means that someone got killed by a train. For all practical purposes, it's a codeword for a track death... the police (nor criminals) wouldn't have any business being on the tracks otherwise.

And, if any criminals did decide to sprint down a subway track or tunnel, they're as good as dead anyway.
