Another folk remedy - eat local honey. I'm not sure exactly how it works but it has something to do with the pollen from the local flowers in the honey making your immune system adjust to it. Of course I don't know how easy it is for most folks to find local honey in NYC - I'm lucky enough to have a neighbor across the street who keeps bees on his roof (yes, this is unfortunately illegal in NYC so I am not disclosing the location).

If you'd rather not dope yourself up, one of the best things that has helped me is keeping hydrated. Drink a ton of water, at least 12 glasses a day, and it helps tremendously. Also, there was an article recently about increasing your Vitamin B-12 uptake to 5-6 mgs. Cheaper than Allegra and healthier too.

I am going to the doctor today - this is misery. I never had an allergy until my 30s. What gives? I always think it's a cold, too. I have been sneezing non-stop.

I highly recommend taking an allergy pill before you go to sleep. This truly helps get you off on the right foot in the morning. Also, agree about eliminating sugars; has helped me a lot so far this year.

I made a happy discovery while on the south beach diet: removing most of the sugars from my diet pretty much cured my allergies. I've heard the same about cutting down on dairy.

Save a lot of money by getting Duane Reade "Nasal Relief" spray instead, which has *exactly the same ingredients* as Afrin.
