Video of the Day: Ivy League Breakdancer

Here's an amusing video of an Ivy League kid copying some subway breakdancers-- his entrance comes about a minute into the video, and then the professionals dance with him for a little bit. Hilarious!

let's not pretend that there is any elitism to subway dancing...the "white boy" wanted to participate, he did, and it was funny. i don't think he was trying to be insulting or oppressive, he just wanted to join in the acrobatics. that is one of the things i love about NYC - spontanaeity. if you don't like it, move....

  • Damn, that crazy white boy is SEXY!!!!!!

Great! Just one more reason not to touch the poles on the trains.

I saw them once on a train too. One of the kids ended up smashing his head on the ceiling and passing out for few seconds while trying to do some kind of a back flip... that was fun.

    1) The white kid wasn't "breakdancing."

    2) There isn't much variation in the subway car dancers' routines, but there also isn't too much you can do in a 3x10-15 area space.

ive seen these dancers before! when they're doing it in the L train the little kid actually holds on to the two ceiling bars and does a somersault as part of the routine..

Uh... how is that different than any of the other subway dancers? It's like there's a learning annex class on subway dancing or something. I take the A train and they all do the exact same routine.

Irony: a privileged white guy who likes street culture making commentary about a privileged white guy who likes street culture.

  • Gabe
