I really doubt these cops and ACC people are getting overtime. If there was something else for them to do, i'm sure they'd go do that instead. Not all cops are busy all the time. I see these cops in the precinct near my apt just standing around chatting for hours. Now THAT'S a waste of your tax dollars but that's a discussion on unions not cats.

Don't know what it is, but somehow, I get the impression you're a cat-hater. So tell me, how can you be so absolutely certain these workers are on overtime? Do you have some inside information that they're staying there any longer than they have to? And if they're not, how is it costing the city more to have them there rather than to have them sitting at a desk? Are any maimed and injured children being neglected while they "waste" their effort on the cat? I think more than a few people might say you are a waste of time and money.

How many NYPD, FDNY, Animal Control workers are there wasting time on this? Now it's going to be time & 1/2 for overtime work. Let's conservatively say it's 10 people. This fucking cat is going to cost the city at least $10,000. Someone has to patch up the brickwork too. God forbid they find asbestos or lead paint!

Have they tried smoking it out from the cigar smoke next door in Hudson Bar and books?
I walked by a Davidoff's and you usually don't smell anything from the lounge but this time I did. Then I read that the lounge was closed due to ventilation cleaning.

I'm no psychic but pulling the PETA reference seems to be a favorite of the right leaning crowd.
Same with "tree hugging" "PC" etc.
The term PC was invented by the right and it's their mantra.
I enjoy a punt kick to a puppy once in a while too.
But some good ole boys won't allow that, they value their dog more than people.

How do their opinions on a cat rescue make them Republicans? You're such an idiot!

Frankly too many leftist "Democrats" commenting on Gothamist anyway, need to balance them out with some flag hugging, patriotic good ole boys.

I see it's no use having a cordial and reasonable discussion here, and since I am done kicking my puppies today, will be signing off from this thread.

Have a great life when you've become the crazy cat throwing old hag from the Simpsons, La Leone.

Gee, can't a raving PETA lunatic moron promote some compassion around here without having her head bitten off by a proud puppy kicker?
:)
Yeah. You don't want anything bad to happen to the cat but since so many cats 'become roadkill everyday, what makes this one so special, right?'
Just remember that people are 'resilient animals' who can also take care of themselves, but we all need a little help or even a rescue sometimes.
Done biting your head off, done raving. No further comment.
But be sure to comment back now instead of working on developing that heart you're lacking.
I'll get back to caring about animals as much as people, why don't YOU express your anger at the NYPD in a nice, well-written letter to them.

I guess one can't post a comment here without getting his/her head bitten off by some raving PETA lunatic.

I never said I want anything bad to happen to Molly, just peeved at the level of resources, effort and attention given to a simple, everyday situation.

Just for your comment, I WILL go kick a puppy tonight on my way home, I hope it's YOUR puppy, you moron.

Have some compassion - this is someone's beloved pet & it's weak and terrified! Damnit. Be sure to kick some puppies on your way to work while going about your soul-sucking life.

Almost every comments thread I read these days has someone who says "you people who think X also think Y!" It's a bad argument - how do YOU know they think Y?

I don't know why I'm wasting this critique on a cat thread, but there it is.

Two different issues here, one involves a wild animal that wandered into the city and might be rabid. Animal control is used appropriately in this case, for the animal's own good as well as the safety of the public.

This is a cat allegedly trapped in a wall, the urgency here is much lower. I am just annoyed at the attention and the waste of resources on a simple matter. I think all the people, noise and attention are probably making Molly more reluctant to come out.

I do wish the cat gets out okay, but this should teach her not to crawl into walls.

Aren't these complainers the same ones that wanted the coyote caught? Since a cat can't eat your toddler, you're not concerned about it?

I hope Molly makes it out ok.

Agree, this is getting way out of proportion! How many cats get trapped in trees or become roadkill every single day, so what makes this one so special?!

If the cat is able to be coaxed out by food, then it's NOT trapped. It will come out eventually when she's hungry enough. Cats are resilient animals, they can take care of themselves just fine. Enough wasting NYPD money and time on this situation.
