I really doubt these cops and ACC people are getting overtime. If there was something else for them to do, i'm sure they'd go do that instead. Not all cops are busy all the time. I see these cops in the precinct near my apt just standing around chatting for hours. Now THAT'S a waste of your tax dollars but that's a discussion on unions not cats.

Don't know what it is, but somehow, I get the impression you're a cat-hater. So tell me, how can you be so absolutely certain these workers are on overtime? Do you have some inside information that they're staying there any longer than they have to? And if they're not, how is it costing the city more to have them there rather than to have them sitting at a desk? Are any maimed and injured children being neglected while they "waste" their effort on the cat? I think more than a few people might say you are a waste of time and money.

How many NYPD, FDNY, Animal Control workers are there wasting time on this? Now it's going to be time & 1/2 for overtime work. Let's conservatively say it's 10 people. This fucking cat is going to cost the city at least $10,000. Someone has to patch up the brickwork too. God forbid they find asbestos or lead paint!

Have they tried smoking it out from the cigar smoke next door in Hudson Bar and books? I walked by a Davidoff's and you usually don't smell anything from the lounge but this time I did. Then I read that the lounge was closed due to ventilation cleaning.

I'm no psychic but pulling the PETA reference seems to be a favorite of the right leaning crowd. Same with "tree hugging" "PC" etc. The term PC was invented by the right and it's their mantra. Two different issues here, one involves a wild animal that wandered into the city and might be rabid. Animal control is used appropriately in this case, for the animal's own good as well as the safety of the public. This is a cat allegedly trapped in a wall, the urgency here is much lower. I am just annoyed at the attention and the waste of resources on a simple matter. I think all the people, noise and attention are probably making Molly more reluctant to come out. I do wish the cat gets out okay, but this should teach her not to crawl into walls.

Agree, this is getting way out of proportion! How many cats get trapped in trees or become roadkill every single day, so what makes this one so special?! If the cat is able to be coaxed out by food, then it's NOT trapped. It will come out eventually when she's hungry enough. Cats are resilient animals, they can take care of themselves just fine. Enough wasting NYPD money and time on this situation.
