The Rangers paid the price for taking the Islanders lightly Tuesday. After falling behind 3-0, the Rangers played a furious third period, launching 24 shots, but ultimately falling short in their 3-2 defeat. The loss and a Philadelphia win shrinks the Rangers’ division lead to three points.
The Rangers really do not have an excuse for coming out as flat as they did. Yes, they played back-to-back games over the weekend, but after losing to the Devils on Sunday, they should not have needed motivation for this game. Yes, the season has been a grind, but with four games left until the finish, they need to do better.
Instead, they lost and now they face a tough battle for the division title. The Flyers have a game in hand and the Rangers have to travel to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and then return home to face Ottawa to close out the season. It won’t be easy and throwing away two points against the Islanders may certainly come back to haunt them.

as an Islander fan i have one thing to say...ha-ha.
actually 2 things...go Flyers!
No excuse? I would think that having six regulars out injured would be something of an excuse, myself.
Oh, and Murph, enjoy your nice, long offseason.
OK, not giving up hope in trying to clinch home ice for the first round. The Flyers play the devils twice, hopefully those are hard fought, NJ can come up with some wins and tire themselves out in the process for our (potential) first round against them.
Anyone else get the playoff ticket package? Its a landscape oriented folder, when you open you hear the goal horn, and a lets go rangers chant mixed in with the song they play after a goal.
Say, that reminds me, anyone know the origin of that song?
Also, anyone know what the giveaway will be on the 18th vs. OTT for fan appreciation night?
keep 'em comin' rangers. imagine having an injured lineup all season long?
face it rags you are through you were a regular season wonder that is slowly coming back down to earth. oh and gagne see you tomorrow night !
