Blogging From the Hotel Chelsea

2006_04_arts_chelseahotel.JPGWhen we were younger, and outside of NY state lines, we dreamed of moving here and taking up residence at the Hotel Chelsea. We quickly learned we wouldn't be able to keep rent there. However, if we win the lottery, we will indefinitely rent a room at the landmark.

For now, we can feel more a part of what goes on day to day there at The Hotel Chelsea's blog, called Living with Legends. It's been around since last July and reports on daily happenings in the Hotel, around the Hotel and tidbits about its past, present and future. Recently they pointed out a 1900's Hotel Chelsea brochure on ebay. It's up to $44.50 now, that's $43 more than it cost for a room there at the time the brochure was printed.

We think they should let us blog from the hotel for a day, from Leonard Cohen's old room. He stated once of the hotel, "It's one of those hotels that have everything that I love so well about hotels. I love hotels to which, at four a.m., you can bring along a midget, a bear and four ladies, drag them to your room and no one cares about it at all." That's all we're lookin' for...

That would be an awesome place to stay, the history alone would make it exciting! Still, I prefer a lot of the luxury Times Square hotels like the new Intercontinental. I love the Chelsea's history, but the Intercontinental has comfort and affordability.

  • You can blog from the lobby. They have free WiFi.
