New York Videos

2006_04_arts_plusminus.jpgWe love music videos that show pieces of the city. Lucky for us, with all of the bands in this city - many have produced NY-centric videos.

Levy has a scandalous one filmed in the Hotel on Rivington. The Cloud Room has a cool one for their song Hey Now Now. And now +/- has some great time lapse videos for their songs, all shot in New York. Check this one out for their song She's Got Your Eyes. We've been watching it an trying to identify as many places as we can.

Update: This Mark McAdam's video was just sent to us, directed by Mike Myers and featuring LES establishments like Lucky Jack's and Teany. And of COURSE Ted Leo's Me and Mia video is a great one.

What's your favorite New York video?

Related...or "while we're on the topic of New Yorkers and videos": - Check out this video of the afterparty we help put on at SXSW this year, it's set to the music of the Cloud Room (who played) and shows everything from the deejays to the firedancers!

- New York band Apes and Androids recently had the girls of Essexy dance in sleeping bags in their video. Check it out here, and check the Essexy deejays out Monday at Movable Hype!

Ted Leo & the Pharmacists - Me & Mia. What could be more NYC than hanging in the village with Music & Pizza.

If you think that's impressive, check out +/-'s live show at North Six on Friday. They will remove your socks given the degree to which they rock.

"Detachable Penis" by King Missile. A slice of the East Village as it was in 1992.

Lame, yes I know. But I saw that Ryan Adams New York New York video right after I moved up here and it sticks in my head for some reason..

How about this crazy video by Amsterdam-based band, About - I recognize the bookstore on Bedford Ave in Williamsburg, and Cake Shop in the LES:
