Hot Sake - Food News You Can Use

2006_03_food_Hot Sake2.jpg- When our work colleague showed us this in his copy of the Post yesterday he said the below described sandwich was for sale at McDonald's:

A new steak sandwich going on sale today in London will make your mouth water and your wallet cry - because it costs a whopping $148. The McDonald sandwich consists of pricey Wagyu beef, Brie de Meaux cheese, 24-hour fermented sourdough bread, and foie gras-flavored mayonnaise.
Turns out it is the McDonald sandwich from Selfridges, a department store in London. Still not sure it could be worth $148.

- Early word on Grace and Jack’s newest little Lamb - Degustation - from the Mouthfuls crew.

- Lots of buzz for Sichuan mini chain, and Grand Sichuan precursor, Wu Liang Ye, with Jim Leff steering the conversation up to the East 86th street branch. We used to love the high thirties Lexington branch back in the mid-90's. Could be the genesis for a UES Subway Fare.

- Just in time for Easter, a buying guide for Lamb from Slashfood.

- A Dining for Darfur update: more restaurants added, you should definitely still plan to go out that night, and Kuma Inn is now the front runner for our meal.

- We may have found a new favorite site - Muckraked. We came across it while stumbling into this blogish throwback to a classic Seinfeld episode. (via Foodite)

The McDonald sandwich would probably be easier on the wallet if not for the terrible exchange rate. But still, that's the price of a nice meal for one somewhere!
