Three Straight

2006_04_sknickslogo.jpgThe long awaited youth movement has finally arrived, but it is surprisingly missing one player. Using the “kids” the Knicks beat the Celtics 101-86 last night in Boston. The win means that New York will not tie the franchise record for fewest wins in a season and brings them out of the NBA cellar.

Once again Jamal Crawford led the way with 31 points and eleven rebounds, continuing his commitment to defense, which has endeared him to Larry Brown. Nate Robinson looked revived, scoring 12 and providing a spark off the bench. David Lee had another quietly solid game with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

However, the most interesting decision was Brown’s choice of Jackie Butler over Eddy Curry during the fourth quarter. Butler played very well, but wasn’t Curry supposed to be the most important player for the franchise? Perhaps this signals a change in the Knicks’ thinking or perhaps it is a way of sending a message to Curry. Whatever the reason, in Crawford, Robinson, Lee, Butler and Qyntel Woods New York has found some players who care and make for a watchable game; quite an improvement over the first seventy games.

you DID NOT use the word "watchable" in a sentence about the Knicks!?!

it's a shame they won't tie the record. it's a mark that this team truly deserved.

i'm glad they are giving time to the players who care a little about losing.

Marbury et. all pay lip service to caring but they are jaded and going through the motions, both on the court and with the media. They come to the knicks wanting to be showtime but unprepared to put the spadework in to winning in difficult times.
It made me sick to go see the knicks a couple of months back as they we're being hosed by sacramento and see knick players laughing on the bench. Its a disgrace actually.

Take a leaf out of the rangers book. purge the knicks of big names this summer. Take whatever you can get for marbury, francis, rose, james, and anyone else not willing to put the work in. Its a good time to do it because it can't get any worse with young players brought in.
Renewing and building needs to be done. No dead wood. .. more of the kids.
