As much as I love reclaiming old areas for new uses, I fear that as oil prices climb and we approach the peak in world oil production levels, we may need all the rail infrastructure we can find. Preserving this infrastructure as a park (instead tearing it down) allows the right of way to be reactivated if necessary in the future. This is also the case for many rail right of way that have been converted into parks/bike trails over the years.

Rail is much more efficient than truck. And Boats are even more efficient than rail.
