Tidbits

- Word on the street is that Peter Luger's is going downhill. Good thing there are plenty of offshoots springing up everywhere you look.

2006_04_food_sliders.jpg- NYC Nosh exposes Upper East Side Sassy's Slider "addicts." Before and after the gym?!? Now we love sliders as much as the next guy, but seriously. Eeww.

- We got a panicked email from a reader alerting us that DiFara's has been closed because Dom was in the hospital. Apparently, he's okay and returned home yesterday. Read all about it on Slice.

  • Peter Luger has broken my hear

Luger's has shit the bed for the last couple of years. It's quite sad.

  • I'm a big fan of unhealthy hamburgers, and Sassy's Sliders are some of the most disgusting things I've ever eaten. Bland, slimy and salty--how can people go there on a regular basis?

Hmmm. Sassy's Sliders, the place where I used to go with any number of Ladies Who Lunch, on lunch break from The Met. Museum, where we worked. Great fast small-bite burgers (good for those who just want to "pick"). Gothamist says "eeeuuwww?", when, most likely, you all go for the skankiest of tummy-fillers after your fill of threebeers/twocosmos? Don't hide, girls.

  • PL is not the best steak is NY, besides I had less than par service the last few times I have been there (that has a huge impact on a decent meal). S&W is better in my opinion... but

My fave however, at least in recent years, has been a place called Moran's on 19th at 10th Avenue.

I was at Luger's recently, and I thought the steak was still quite good. I like S&W more, but that has to do with personal preference.

    Perhaps it was a fluke
