The Milford Plaza Hotel, whose jingle and retro ads from the 80s are stuck in many a head, is being sued by the family of a man who died two years ago. Rydian Phillips fell out his 22nd floor hotel room window in the middle of the night, and the lawsuit claims the room's living conditions are to blame. The room was apparently "cramped" with a broken air-conditioner, so Phillips went to open a window - which his family's lawyer claims had insufficient window guards. Yikes. The Milford Plaza says the wrongful death suit has no merit (of course). Looking at visitor reviews on Tripadvisor, the average is three out of five, uh, circles, but there are many mentions of it being full of mice and cockroaches, as well as being crusty. And if you look at a March 7 review, the reviewer even posted photographs to show how crowded the room was.

This is as bad as the NEWTON HOTEL uptown...don't go there...ever!
I love that commercial, and I'll be damned if anyone talks smack about the Milford Plaza. Those guys are the best thing to happen to Times Square since MTV moved in. Anyone have any links to that commercial?
He probably rolled out of bed... and out the window...
admittedly, it does look pretty crusty. but i've stayed in some very posh designer-y parisian and london hoetls where the rooms were every bit at "crowded". ooh - and ever been in a room at the hudson? talk about tight!
Long before the W, there was the M. It's a shame it has become such a dump.
I stayed at the Milford Plaza once prior to moving to NY. My friend and I shared a room with two beds, and we literally had to walk across the beds to get from one side of the room to the other. There were about five inches between the end of the bed and the opposite wall.
Great, I now have the Milford Plaza jingle stuck in my head. I recall the add having dancing bellmen and Checker cabs and for some reason I think it aired alot on Channel 9.
