I saw it snowing outside, and you know what was my first thought? "I bet the line at Shake Shack is short today." And it was. In fact, the line was non-existant. It should snow every day!

We had snow-huge snowflakes- at about 7 pm last night, in Lockport. Not much stuck, though, except, of course, to the car windshields. And, of course, enough moisture got into the car doors, to make tugging on them necessary to get them open (I had to go in through the passenger side, finally, thats fun, climbing over a center console). Green sky...hmmmm...here, it means, that bad BAD weather is coming, usually in the form of a severe thunderstorm, with downdrafts. WNY version of tornadoes...as usual, when something happens in WNY, its cockeyed. Instead of whirling around, the wind just slams downwards hard enough to flatten hay, corn, wheat, if not entire barns when they're really bad. Probably cost farmers the same amount of dollar damage. But in Manhattan? I agree. Its probably something floating over from some chemical factory in Jersey, kept low in the sky because of the weather. Hack, gag, yack! But, its good for some conversation, right? Better than the usual, "So, you come here often? Whats your sign?" Now, you can go up to a perfect stranger, and say, "COme out here, and look at the sky! We're gonna die! So, before we go, sleep with me!"

Adam, the quick answer is that the green sky is caused by selective scattering of different colors of light against a gray background. The longer answer is "it's complicated".
