Those are the words of Quentin Richardson and they are truly the best way to sum up the current state of the Knicks. After last night’s 105-90 loss, the team held a 20-minute meeting behind closed doors.
Afterwards, Larry Brown delivered the brutally honest assessment that, “"I have to find five guys who care enough to compete.” Brown wasn’t alone in questioning the effort of his players. Malik Rose when asked about why Brown’s coaching hasn’t worked added, “Maybe some guys don't want to do it."
What is clear is that someone other than the coach and the players needs to step in. Where is the GM during all of this? He has been seen at some games, but shouldn’t this be the time for him to step in and take charge? We don’t want to see him make any more personnel moves, but he was one of the best players to ever hit the floor and he always gave a great effort, so maybe the players would listen to him. Then again, since he built this roster, maybe he wants nothing to do with it. Who could blame him?

First of all, Q Rich has had the worst season of anyone on the Knicks. He has no room to talk. Brown-nosing (!) seems to be all Brandy's boytoy can do.
Second, why does Larry Brown continue to get a free pass? Whenever a coach is hired or fired, the talk is of how he motivates players, how he relates to players. Coaches like Bruce Pearl, Ben Howland, and others can come into programs with a bunch of losers and make them winners. Brown has taken a group of adequate players and made them complete losers. The way he handled Nate Robinson this season (not to mention the embarrassing Marbury situation) should be grounds for dismissal. Larry Brown cannot relate to players anymore. He's done. He's a horrible boss, and a worse manager. 43 different lineups? Come on.
Buy him out, put Isiah on the bench next season, and get a real GM.
why should these guys care? they get paid by the truck load each game. Ants work harder than these guys do.
Uh... "mapleTits" (ahem) is right. These guys don't care. Just a bunch of spoiled jocks. Now if their pay were tied to their performance, that would be another story.
isiah is busy sexually molesting ugly executive chicks and then denying the fact. ISIAH IS POISON
yeah, I'd fire the whole team, start over.
Clearly the Knicks need a new stadium with more luxury box seating.
Brown gets a relatively free pass because he has a history of making teams better, and he has a reputation of being an excellent coach. That NBA title doesn't hurt his reputation, nor does the NCAA title he won at Kansas in '88.
And though coaches, like players, can't survive on reputation alone, Brown is clearly better at coaching that his players are at...well...passing, shooting, rebounding and playing defense.
Zeke gave Brown a bad team, pure and simple. Maybe another coach could have done a better job at coaching this specific group of players, but another GM would have got even better results by giving Brown a different team.
Here's a scary stastic: divide the Knicks' payroll by 19 wins and you get almost $6.5 million per win. Add in Zeke's legal bills and Brown's salary and it's even worse.
Larry grudringly gets a free pass, if only because of his proven performance in the past, and lack of support presently.
The Knicks suck - period. The entire organixation is a cancer, and it all stems from the tumor jim dolan. He should be radiated and chemo'd until dead.
Thank god for baseball, and too bad that the rangers are owned by these clowns too.
q, had a off year so what. unlike the rest of the team he brings it every night even with the personal crisis he had to deal with this year. he plays defense rebounds and has a solid all around game. q along with frye and lee are the players we should build around. not cunts like nate and starbury.
