Does the world really need more bands like this? As someone who grew up listening and having my life changed by punk bands, hardcore bands, and indie bands (back when "indie" referred more to a bands ethics than it did a particular sound) I am flummoxed that anyone really gets into these run of the mill "dark, brooding" rock bands with nothing to say, nothing unique about them, and nothing that actually makes you feel anything. As "indie" rock gets further and further from it's punk roots the bands are getting more and more watered down and less challenging all the time. What accounts for the popularity of bands like the Walkmen,Stellastarr,Editors, etc that are simply rehashing bands from 20 years ago but in a way that has a fraction of the emotion,politics,aggression,etc.....These bands are useless save for having some aural wallpaper for your loft.....
