Pretend to Care, FOX 5 Gets Facelift Too!

Never one to be outdone by the New York Times, Murdoch's kids today also unveiled a new look. For flagship FOX station WNYW FOX 5. Check out the screenshots provided by Gothamist tipper, the ever-vigilant Toby:

The Tobster points out that the new look and graphics brings the station more in line with the Fox News Channel. And cause everyone likes to laugh at others troubles, he also notes "The 5PM newscast was filled with all sorts of technical problems."

We'll add that it looks like the new set and graphics also sync FOX with the new look Murdoch has been playing with for WWOR, now that it is becoming a part of My Network TV in the wake of The CW.

Looks kinda dark and boring to us, but to be honest we haven't really watched news on Fox 5 since way back when Penny Crone used to do the New York Minute (we love you TiVo and we promise we'll be home soon!). So we're not really in the best position to critique. What do you think?

so true now that Shon is gone from CBS am, Noland is the "QUEEN" of all. I used to watch her in Central "Cali" She is as hot as the summer's there !!!!!

It looks like a Fox O&O initiative, because fellow stations WHBQ in Memphis and WTVT in Tampa (both on channel 13) have the same logos too.

As long as Lucy Noland is there every morning at 5, they could broadcast from a parking lot in Newark for all I care.

My iTunes queued up Don Henley just as I was reading that last paragraph. I think it's a sign.

    Fox sux!

New set, new graphics, new look; but one thing stays the same: their quality of reporting the news SUCKS!

Is the title of this post a reference to the Times or to Katie Couric?

  • Brightliner

Reminds me of the old Entertainment Tonight sets from the 1990s. Couldn't tell you how close the resemblance is today since I gave up on ET back then.

  • Looks like the Set of the Colbert Report!
