Rangers Fall 3-2

2005_10_snhllogo.jpgThe Rangers escaped from Florida last night with a point and they should be happy they even got that. They wouldn’t have without the outstanding goaltending of Kevin Weekes who faced 45 shots and made several big saves before being unable to stop Olli Jokinen in the shootout.

The loss was discouraging, but the bigger news was the injury to Martin Rucinsky. Rucinsky was slashed by Jay Bouwmeester near the end of the third period and suffered a broken finger. The extent of the fracture will be determined today, but it is likely that he will miss the rest of the season.

Before the game Jim Dolan continued to prove how clueless he is. Talking about the Rangers and the Knicks, Dolan heaped praise on Glen Sather while conveniently forgetting that it has taken six years to make the Rangers competitive again. That won’t matter to Rangers’ fans who are just happy to see their team headed to the playoffs again, but it is another reason for Knicks’ fans to despair.
