- Bad news: four people have died in Brooklyn of meningitis in the past three months. Terrible news for X-Men fans Black Nationalists: Professor X is one of the victims.
- Looks like the MTA and TWU contract negotiations are going to go to binding arbitration.
- Congrats, Little Italy, Momus loves you!
- Cutest science ever! Panda painted on human hair.
- Cutest TMBG cover ever: Kiss Me Son of God
- Note to future Senate candidates: don't pad your resume!
- Shocker: the NYCLU is accusing the NYPD about lying about reasons for arresting people at the 2004 RNC convention.
- The fate of New York's restaurants is in your hands: Zagat's polling is currently open!
- Oddly enough: The original Carol Seaver from Growing Pains went on to have a one night stand with Bill Clinton.
Publisher's Note: Jen is officially off for a week. She's getting married! Congratulations, Jen!

I love the image. Oh how I feel their pain! Whoever steals my NYT in Greenpoint (presumably you know who you are), I despise you!
In one of the X-Clan songs, Professor X stated that his people wanted "Freedom or Death." Got what he wished for, but he was probably looking to go out on a more noble note-pun intended.
That is not the same Elizabeth Ward.
Jen's posts add nothing postive to this blog and attract the most biased, horrible misrepresentation of NYCers to post comments. Since she's been involved there has certainly been an increase in racist/anti-gay/anti-semitic and generally lower educated know-nothings spreading their ego-centric perspectives.
Hopefully her husband will demand she starts doing something that provides income.
Yeah, those are different Elizabeth Wards. Elizabeth Gracen (the one who did it with Clinton) was in that Highlander spinoff. The Growing Pains Elizabeth Ward didn't have an acting career past 1985.
Congrautulations Jen and Jen's-husband-to-be! Will the happy couple be featured in the weekly "Times Weddings by the Numbers"?
Anybody know what the fuck Mike is talking about? Jen is Gothamist!
According to Wikipedia, it is the same Elizabeth Ward... I just figured it was a great nose job!
I choose to believe it's the same person.
#6: If she's in the Times, her numbers will be counted.
And if Michelle says that it is the same Elizabeth Ward then IT IS the same Elizabeth Ward and all of you nay sayers are all just going to have to learn to accept and live with it. Ms. Collins knows her shit.
I don't know Jen or who she's getting married to, but based on everything I've seen on this site, I'd be willing to bet a MILLION DOLLARS that her husband will NOT be Korean like her. Read into that what you will, but dollars to donuts, he'll be a white guy (not that there's anything wrong with that...I'm just saying...).
Mike obviously knows nothing about Gothamist. As #7 said, she *is* Gothamist. When they started out it was just Jen writing and Jake doing the tech stuff, and the personality that comes through her blogging is what has won Gothamist so many readers.
i would say #10 knows almost as little about gothamist and jen as #7. maybe the commenter can figure out why.
Thank you "#9".
Agreed. Jen is Gothamist. (Sorry, Jake.)
Now, to the important business. If Clinton's Elizabeth Ward is, in fact, the Growing Pains Elizabeth Ward, she did not go on to have a one night stand with Gov. Bill, she went on from that to do the pilot of Growing Pains, 'cause her one night stand took place in 1983, two years before Growing Pains premiered.
But, let's get real. Bill's Liz would have been 24 or 25 years old when they taped the Growing Pains pilot. I know they often cast older to play younger but this stretches credulity, just a touch.
Anybody?
Gothamist was a lot better when it wasn't polluted by J-a-k-e. [Had to hyphenate because he apparently has robotic sensors censoring posts.] We love Jen!
Not only did Bill date rape elizabeth ward, but also the entire seaver family.
Korean? Cheng is a Chinese name. If you're going to be racist, you should get your Far East cultures straight.
um - the momus thing about little italy is actually a parody of someone else's trip to portugal -- all a little to meta-something for much enjoyment, but just thought it worth mentioning...
Chung is a Chinese name. She was born in New Jersey though, so I definitely don't think she was under any obligation to marry someone Korean. Unless there's some rule of which I am not aware...
She DOES have a job, read the bio. And on top of her full-time gig, she does so much with Gothamist that it is taking 4 people to fill-in while she's gone.
yeah, i used to have the times delievered, but if i didn't get up early enough, some jackass going to THE READ on bedford would steal it. fuckers make me pay full price for my paper now that i have to get it.
#15 - Jake isn't blocked. As you can see others in this thread have used the name.
Sigh.
I bowed to the "Elizabeth Ward" pressure and updated the post at the end.
Good work, sleuths!
Check IMDB: There is another Elizabeth Ward who was on the Pilot.
Here is Elizabeth Gracen born Elizabeth Ward who would have been 25 in 1985. The "Carol Seaver" in the pilot looks older than 25...
And Michelle would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those darn kids!
So I guess this means that you can make it up?
Sigh.
I bowed to the "Elizabeth Ward" pressure and updated the post at the end.
Good work, sleuths!

Thanks, but I notice that on your site you complain that someone should change the Wikipedia entry.
However, as far as I can tell, there is nothing in the Wikipedia entry that says the women it's about (Elizabeth Ward Gracen) was in the pilot of Growing Pains. And the entry was last changed on 2/6, so I obviously saw what you saw.
Now, if you type "Elizabeth Ward" into Wikipedia's search box, you will be redirected to the "Elizabeth Gracen" entry. So, I'm guessing you inferred from that redirection that this was indeed the story of the actress about whom you sought knowledge.
But you shoulda knowed, Michelle Collins, that Wikipedia only shows what people put into it. The absence of two Elizabeth Wards only means no one cared enough (or knew enough) to enter the other one. So, stop blaming Wikipedia for your journalistic failings. Nothing in that listing made the two "actresses" into one. That, my put-upon blogmistress, was your doing alone.
But since I assume you are purer of heart than James Frey and his ilk (closer, I think, to Nick Sylvester), I have made the world a safer place in which to hunt down information about one's childhood sitcom faves, and added a line about the other Elizabeth Ward to Ms. Gracen's entry.
You're welcome.
I just noticed a typo in my post, making "woman it's about" into "women it's about" (something spellcheck can't catch). But, given what we're discussing, that seems somehow right.
Hey my last name is Chung and I'm Korean too. Represent. Anyone who thinks that all Chungs are the same or all Chinese is sadly ignorant.
Who cares who Jen marries? As long as she's happy and the nice young man treats her well that's all that matters. Do you think all gyopos marry out? (okay so I did but whatev)
Now back off!
Geez, let's leave the "White/Asian" thing to Craigslist, ok? So passe....
Congratulations, Jen! And I hope when you return we get a full rundown of your nuptials, with many pics to share among your extended dysfunctional Gothamist family. :)
That pic is from my friend's building! We might have to stake out the thief, and drop water balloons from the 4th floor the next time we're up until 7am.
To hell with the wedding! When am getting some Grandchildren???
