Not that it matters, but she was Venezuelen. Race should have no bearing on this horrible crime. Nobody, white, black, hispanic, asian, deserves to have their life brutaly taken away from them. And anyone who is sick enough to make comments like, "First Degree for raping a useless white girl ?!? 5 years probation sounds about right to me" should be locked up for life themselves.

Only complete losers would fall into the trap of hurling racist remarks and evaluations at each other. How much more ignorance can you betray? It is a paramount (but well-orchestrated) waste of energy to keep people hating and devaluing (or valuing) each other based on such divisions. Aren't grand jury precedings a secret? How did the press know what evidence was presented to a grand jury? OH I see, it's just CNN going through the evidence. The system is safe everyone, NO leaks on this case. Case will be decided in the courtroom.

can any of you lawyers explain what a first degree murder indictment actually means? how does that differ from 2nd degre? i tried looking it up, but i couldn't find anything specific for new york state.

I am glad the the grand jury took their time putting all the evidence together. If this is the guy, I want the the jury to have no doubt when they send him to a lifetime of hell behind bars. Then they should show him the same mercy he showed Immette if it turns out he is the one who brutally killed her. There should be a law that allows family and close friends 5 minutes in a small room with criminals who commit these types of crimes. I'd be first on line to get this law passed.
