This just in off the wires-- Darryl Littlejohn has been indicted by a Brooklyn Grand Jury in the murder of grad student Imette St. Guillen. The grand jury met for a week before issuing the indictment.
UPDATE: NY1 is saying they handed down a FIRST degree murder indictment.
UPDATE: WNBC is saying that the indictment is still officially under seal, and will be announced tomorrow. CNN is going through the evidence-- his blood on the ties that bound her hands, the cellphone evidence, the testimony of people in the bar saying they saw Littlejohn leaving with Imette. Also going through rumors that he's been involved with other rapes and murders.

I just lost bowel control after reading that.
I'm sure the rumours of "other rapes" were not presented to the grand jury as evidence. However, this is a big win for the prosecution.
I am glad the the grand jury took their time putting all the evidence together. If this is the guy, I want the the jury to have no doubt when they send him to a lifetime of hell behind bars. Then they should show him the same mercy he showed Immette if it turns out he is the one who brutally killed her.
There should be a law that allows family and close friends 5 minutes in a small room with criminals who commit these types of crimes. I'd be first on line to get this law passed.
can any of you lawyers explain what a first degree murder indictment actually means? how does that differ from 2nd degre? i tried looking it up, but i couldn't find anything specific for new york state.

Sounds good, but it might be a good idea to stay within the rules of our legal system. Something like that can get out of hand.

Sounds like it, perhaps, but he hasn't. The court of public opinion won't put you behind bars. Due process will. People think differently (e.g, jurors) when their decisions have ACTUAL consequences.
