What a Pizza Party!

Wow. Last night's Gothamist-Slice Pizza Party was awesome. For those of you that came out last night, we hope you had as much fun that we did. A big thank you to Fornino, Michael Ayoub and his wonderful staff that helped make the night so fun (and tasty). At the end of the night, Ayoub told Gothamist and Adam from Slice that they made over 200 pies, running through almost all the dough they had. In addition to the great pizza, there was a mozzarella demonstration, with some delicious samples, and a nice spumoni desert which was a perfect finish to the night.
Gothamist's favorite pizza of the night was the tartufo - a pie with black winter truffles, fontina and olive oil. The truffles, which only arrived at Fornino late last week, were delicious. Before the party started last night, Ayoub brought a bowl of truffles up to us and told us that it was worth $600.
Again, we can't thank Michael Ayoub and everyone at Fornino enough for last night's great event. Also, thank you Adam for all your hard work to help organize the event as well. Finally, thanks to everyone who came out. With the resounding success of this event, we hope to have another food event in the future.
Reports on the night are already rolling in: on Slice, Tien's site, and Sound Bites. Also, check out Youngna's set on flickr as well as the "Gothamist-Slice Pizza Party" tag on flickr.

Incredible event. Thanks Adam. Thanks Michael Ayoub. And thanks, in a big way, to the waitress who realized we were vegetarians and gave us first dibs on the meat-free pies.
Yes, the truffle pizza was a moment in heaven.
Oh man, I missed out, eh? Yeah I guess it would have been cool. Sorry I could not make. Instead I had spend my night watching the ol' tube and playing Star Wars Galaxies. Oh well. What can you do about it, eh? I guess I will just have to cope with it.
-Peace out
What a fun time! And that truffle pizza really was fantastic. I'm so bummed that I had to leave early and missed the mozzarella demonstation!
It was an awesome, awesome party. The only pizza I missed -- I think -- was one with chicken sausage, and that was because I'd hit a wall and couldn't shove any more down the gullet. The wall moved when more Tartufo emerged.
I am shocked so many people left early, while there was still beer and wine left. I realize it was a Monday, but still...
It really was a great party. Thanks, Tien, Jen, and Jake for suggesting the idea and helping plan and organize.
I, too, am surprised people left so early. Oh well. That was more fresh mozzarella for the rest of us!
We should do a another pizza event sooner than later or ... perhaps a burger event!!
