Where Did That Come From?

2006_03_scrawforddet.jpg

Sometimes the Knicks and the NBA makes Gothamist scratch its head. That's what happened during the Knicks' 105-103 victory Detroit at the Garden Friday. A team that could be bound for its third straight NBA Finals lost to a team that would be bound for the lottery had it not traded its pick away unprotected to the Chicago Bulls. With a loss to the lowly Bobcats in the rear-view mirror, the Knicks knocked off the league's best team.

Several things helped them out, but the Knicks helped themselves. In a rare moment of productivity, Jamal Crawford knocked down the game winning basket with 2 seconds remaining, the last of his 15 points in the fourth quarter. The Knicks enjoyed that quarter in part because Detroit's Rasheed Wallace and Richard Hamilton had been ejected. Gothamist doesn't want to detract from the Knicks' night by saying they won because Detroit's stars had been ejected. Still, what is most maddening about the Knicks is that they could play this well on one night and put forth such lackluster efforts against the NBA's worst.

Apparently it was the green jerseys.

They still suck ass, Detroit got drunk at the parade.

As a long time nba fan, I've seen this happen many times over the years. A team totally sucks, has a horrid record, and they win a freak game over one of the top teams in the nba. NBA history has shown: THIS GAME MEANS NOTHING.

I'm sure larry brown knows this, but he won't dare say it aloud.

No starter played more then 32 minutes. *That's* why the Knicks won.

the knicks have more talent than their record suggests. it's up to the coach to make it work. instead, larry brown wants to play the role of martyr and sacrifice this season for no apparent reason.

No. It was Larry Brown coaching that won it for the Knicks. Shitbary, I mean Stephon Marbury was trying so hard to lose with his whopping 7 turnovers in 30 minutes and 2 assists. Larry saw through his shit and benched his ass for the 4th quarter and the Knicks win.

i can't believe these starbury apologists are still out there. they have to be as dense as him. look at the last 2 games he sits for the 4th quarter and they win. the dude is a cancer who brings down teams with him.

look at jamal crawford he is turning into a stud he bought into larry browns system and look what happened. he is having his best year as a pro. same goes for q richardson although his offensive game is lacking, dwise he has been great. they need to build around jamal, q, frye, nate, lee, butler, and woods and they will make the playoffs next year.
