Graffiti About Race in Williamsburg

2006_3_raceclassbburg1.jpg

We were biking down on Wythe Street in Williamsburg today, when we noticed this door covered in graffiti. Closer inspection revealed a running argument about race, written by a number of people. Interesting stuff-- click for a larger version.

saw something like that on the way to beacon's closet two months ago. hmm.

Looks like the same guy.
Why guy? Am I being sexist? Maybe.
That's just a guy's handwriting, ask any girl.
I did an informal survey, both females said that looks like a guy's handwriting.
I'm referring to the "if you hate white people..." grafitti. Same with the "white power" guy.

I wrote it all With two pens. More to come so stay tuned. It's called therapist and continues to be A work in progress.

Anyone can play:

Story Time

For 2 or more persons, the more the better.

Storytime is best played while waiting for something... whether it be waiting to get somewhere, waiting for a show, waiting for someone, etc. Play it any time, though.

Story time is outrageously simple to play, and it only seems worthy to post here to serve as a reminder.

There are a few different variations on storytime, but the basic premise is as follows....

One person begins a story, and each person, in turn, adds to the story, until the story ends. Players must wait their turn to add to the story, and must contribute when it is their turn.

Seems simple enough? Good.

So much for pc liberal hipster williamsburg. Where's all that tolerance for diversity?

I think the White Power shit is so damn funny! guy is probably sarcastic.

liberal hipster williamsburg? maybe.
p.c.? anything but...
any place that houses a "kill whitey" party for a mostly white crowd and entrance is discounted with a bucket of chicken is NOT PC. Its rascist and disgusting.

that poor door, scribbled on by some dumb trust-fund hipster douchebag.

The graffiti looks like the comments after most of Dobkin's posts.

I am not a racist and think everyone should be treated equally.I do mean EVERYONE, like the people who lived there before all the gentrefication started! I am all for positive change but not when it entails kicking out the people who have lived there FOREVER! My grandmother has lived there for 31 years and is fighting to stay in her apartment. It does not matter what you are, white, black, spanish, chinese, orange or blue just give credit where credit is due. All of a sudden people give a shit about Williamsburg. Where was all the attention when I was growing up? I come back from college and all of a sudden Williamsburg is the new hot spot with a bar on every corner and the school systems still as shitty as ever for the kids growing up there!

Hey Michelle, as long as wealth increases in New York, native New Yorkers will continued to be pushed out.

I have no idea how true this statistic is anymore and also don't remember if it applied only to Manhattan or all of New York City (I think it WAS all 5 Boroughs) but 1 in 4 people living in the city today (this was from the late 80's as I remember) were actually born in New York City.

New York always has more people who are not native than native.

The way people talk, it's seems like most people under 25 in NYC have trust funds.

it's the same person. they did it to make a one-perspective point. try to make is seem like two people/races fighting but its only one person.
