Six Was Enough

2006_03sjagr.jpgWhether it resulted from a post-Olympic letdown or simply poor play, the Rangers' six-game losing streak ended with Thursday's 5-4 win over visiting Washington. Jaromir Jagr scored the game-winning goal in a contest he described as "ugly" and Henrik Lundqvist picked up his first win since the Olympics.

Gothamist did not lose sleep during the Rangers' losing streak. For one, they came back from the Olympics with a resounding win over Philadelphia. During the six games, the Rangers picked up a point in two and lost another three by only one goal. They've managed to keep themselves atop the Flyers in the standings, and regular season NHL games don't matter as much as the league would like its fans to believe. The Rangers will go as far as Lundqvist and Jagr carry them. On Thursday, it was Jagr against one of his former teams.

Wrong. This team will go as far as the stupid hooking penalties they make will take them. Jagr and Lundqvist are not the entire ranger bench.

Fine goal by Jagr, but the Capitals have swiss cheese defense. The Rangers need contributions from other guys like Prucha, Straka, and a healthy Ruzinsky if they are going to go beyond the first round of the playoffs.

The shirts have plenty of contribution from guys like Prucha and Straka. It's all the bad penalties they are taking from guys LIKE Rucinsky and even JAGR, that are putting them under. You can't expect a team to win games on the PK.

Five different guys scored last night - tired of hearing how they'll go nowhere if Jagr doesn't come through. Be happy they're even going to the playoffs - it's been a long time.

the devils knocking out the rangers in the playoffs is going to be the highlight of my summer.

NHL.com has every single goal from every single game on their website: nhl.com

Click on Highlights, go to the date, click on the game, and click on the goal.

Easy!

You can also watch all of Jagr's goals this year.
