$92 million doesn’t buy that much these days. The Knicks with their $125 million payroll lost 116-109 to Charlotte with their $33 million payroll and took over the worst record in the NBA. Charlotte’s payroll is actually equal to about half of the luxury tax payment the Knicks will be forced to pay at the end of this season.
The Knicks actually out shot the Bobcats, but were once again plagued by sloppy basketball. New York committed 14 turnovers, with Steve Francis contributing five including one in the final minute of play when the Knicks still had a glimmer of hope.
As if the future wasn’t already bleak enough, Channing Frye seems to be regressing each game. His points per game and shooting percentages have dropped every month since December and last night he committed five fouls in just seventeen minutes. If Frye doesn’t develop into a solid player, Knicks’ fans will really have nothing to look forward to.

The 14 turnovers weren't the problem. For most teams that's an average night. For the Knicks that's a successful night -- they average over 17 per game.
Sloppy -- or rather, lack of defense was the problem. A few teams could give up 116 and still win the game. The Knicks aren't one of those teams.
Every time I watch the Knicks play I notice the glaring lack of leadership. Marbury doesn't give them leadership. He wants to be that guy but he's not that guy.
The team's current state was summed up by a spin move Frye did on the baseline. He wasn't aware of his place on the floor and was so far out of bounds he almost in line at the concession stand. Typical of this clueless team.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA
NO TAX BREAKS FOR A NEW MSG UNTIL THE DOLANS SELL THE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!
Channing Frye isn't really getting a lot of minutes as he had since december. Give the guy a break...he's playing on a crowded team that's bad and on top of that he's not starting, so how can you say he's regressing when his minutes are going down? the trades for francis and jalen rose really cut into his minutes, and the fact that larry brown has been going to malik rose recently. What should be emphasized as a disappointment is eddie curry who freaken doesn't know how to plow through the paint and just dunk the ball.
I'll second the criticism against Curry. You know you're in trouble when your starting center has only 3 rebounds in 31 minutes.
Can't defend Curry at all, You are right, Frye's minutes have gone from 28.1 in December to 24.1 in January to 23.6 in Feb to 15.8 so far in March.
But, his ppg and shooting % have gone 14.7/12.8/11.8/4,2
and .526/.462/.426/.385.
So, I would say it is some sort of regression. I hope he turns it around and soon.
