Evidence Tested in St. Guillen Murder Case

2006_03_comforter.jpgThe NYPD's test results on various pieces of evidence in the Imette St. Guillen murder case are starting to emerge - DNA evidence is inconclusive at this point but carpet fibers found in suspect Darryl Littlejohn's home match fibers found on packing tape used to bind St. Guillen. Littlejohn, who was a bouncer at The Falls, the bar St. Guillen was last seen on February 25, still has not been charged in connection to the murder and is being transported to a parole violation hearing today in Kew Gardens. The police are looking at three rapes that happened in Queens and Long Island last fall to see if Littlejohn could be connected to them as the attacker used a blue van and tied up one victim with tape and wire.

AM New York offers some details about what witnesses believe St. Guillen said while at the Falls, suggesting that she got into an argument with Littlejohn with racial undertones. One of St. Guillen's friends is asking for Imette's Law, which would require bars to put videocameras outside their doors. The Post looks at the history of The Fall's co-owners, the Dorrians, and the Daily News thinks The Falls should close, if only because Danny Dorrian seems to have deliberately stalled (perhaps lied?) to police about what happened that night. Who knows what has or has not been said, but the mere idea of witnesses lying or not coming forward is disgusting - whether it's this case or a shooting of an unknown in a higher crime area or it's the bodyguard of a rapper during a video shoot. Just because she may have been verbally abusive to Littlejohn doesn't make him the killer. I think the phony cab driver theory deserves more attention -- it shouldn't be ignored because it's a particularly scary slant for NYC tourism.

New Yorkers are probably more aware about cab driver licensing than bouncer licensing, but when you're tipsy and ready to go home, you may not be looking for that license. And who's to say all cab drivers are saints? or that all their licenses are valid?

(Ironically, when I left 'scary' NYC for a job in a small midwestern college town, a town cabbie was being tried for murdering a runaway he'd picked up without telling his dispatcher. I've always felt safer after dark on NYC streets than on small-town America streets!)

  • no freakin way =

if its a hate crime its like those denmark cartoons a few weeks ago against hte palistinians the cartoons spoke quietly with a statement and the palistinians reacted loudly with violence. so the victim imette spoke quietly with a racist comment and the bastard reacted loudly with violence by killing her

"The State Liquor Authority says it's taking a look at the Dorrian family's employment of a career criminal as a bouncer, which would seem to violate the licensing rules, as would not being of good character." -- Daily News

I'm personally grateful to a conscientious NY bouncer for protecting my daughter when she'd had too much to drink. Bar owners and tenders are legally responsible for a lot of things that happen as a result of the way they make their livings, so it's not too much to ask that they check their staff's creds. Whether Littlejohn killed St. Guillen or not, Dorrian should be prosecuted for hiring someone with a 9pm curfew!

  • King Kong

I go back to my original hypothesis that something just doesn't fit and that Littlejohn was likely involved but probably not acting alone. What's with all the hatred and venom on here? I thought NYC was supposed to be a model for cultural and racial diversity? (snicker)

Igor & Homeopt, go back to whatever shit-ridden gulag you came from. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200.

Poverty is the major indicator of crime in the US, NOT race. Due to inherent systematic institutions of discrimination and oppression in our country, most of the poverty bracket is made up by blacks and Hispanics.

  • rhody

i am not blind to the racial problems in this country. in fact, as a history major i spent my final semester studying racism in the context of american history. long semester! but i think in this case, race isn't at the forefront. the cops want to solve this, very, very badly, because of the brutality. he was the last person seen with her, and they argued. if he was white or hispanic they would be all over him just the same. period.

thank you to homeop for elevating the debate with childish name calling and brutally disrespecting the dead...nice work. (prick!)

  • homeopt

Igor, you appear to be a foreigner, probably from Eastern Europe where you don't see many black people. The statistics are probably true. The missing part of the statistic is that most of the victims are black. That's typical for any permanent underclass (see France). The only time it becomes newsworthy is when a white person becomes the victim. I don't think this girl will be misssed. She seems to have been a stain on the human race anyway.

  • Igor

Wait a minute... "racist slur, racist comment". What exactly did she say? If she said something about blacks that that guy didn't like and therefore killed her, it would be a hate crime, would it not? Because he did that to her since she was not black, otherwise there would not be a race-related argument between people of the same race. Hmmm...

Anyway, I have an American friend who told me that black males in USA commit like 8 times more murders then whites, or something like that. I wonder if it is true? Because if it is, it is awful statistics. I don't know, but 8 times more murders? Wow! It makes you wonder how safe it is to be with blacks, or live in black communities etc. But I don't know if it is reported widely or not...

  • Kojak

homeopt you shithead. No one deserves to be raped and killed in that manner.

Perhaps a Pimpslap would've been in order, but if this is what caused him to go nuts, that cannot be justified.

  • homeopt

if she did make that racist comment, she pretty much got what she deserved. seems like she was a general all-around cunt any way. funny how her mom presumes to know what she's like when she's not around. parents are so stupid.

To get a NYC bouncer's perspective on Littlejohn, see the interesting blog:

    http://www.standingonthebox.blogspot.com/

  • littlejohn planed the evidence himself... the semen that is.

  • no freakin way

and its not cause hes in the news its cause hes the only suspect in the case and theres all this cir "" CUM "" stantal evidence against this creep!!! the reasonable doubt is for a jury of his peers to figure out and thats where real racist things are gonna come out at trial but now is not the time for that!!! now is the time for the police to decide whether hes gonna be arrested or not or if theres another guy out there and either way this creep is no angel!!!! hes got a rap sheep a mile long and hes got something to do with the murder!!!! ok maybe he didnt rape her but maybe he was the one who cut her hair and taped her up!!!! so all im saying is i dont know if hes guilty and u dont know but hes the only suspect 4 now!!

  • "DNA Roadblock In NYC Student Slay

"But police held off on charging the ex-con in that case because semen stains on a floral blanket wrapped around St. Guillen's body apparently do not trace back to him, sources told the New York Daily News. ""

yes, however, that only means he either panted the semen himself to make cops think he didn't do it or someone else was also involved. the carpet fibers on the tape will make him an accerrory to this crime, and possibly one of two or three killers.

i also, read in the times that the DNA tests have not come back yet... i'll go with the times before i believe the daily news's inconsistent reporting.

  • sp

i'm a far lef tliberal, and i want him to hang, if he's guilty

    Rhody:

You and others may want to begin your research here: http://query.nytimes.com/search/query?query=dorrian%27s%20red%20hand&srchst=nyt&d=&o=&v=&c=&sort=newest&n=10&dp=0&daterange=full&frow=0

If I remember correctly, one of the issues in the Chambers/Levin "Preppy Murder" case was that Dorrian's overlooked the fact that many of its patrons were underage.

  • rhody

i just read an article which stated that the owners of the Falls bar settled for 100,000K in a case related to the Jennifer Levin murder. does anyone know why or what they did in that case? the behavior of these same bar owners in this case is appalling--i am just wondering what their role was in the preppy murder case. i hope they are criminally charged in this one.

  • Apologies, fellow posters, and you too, deng. Last post went too far. I'd like to blame it on my evil twin, but my temper is an only child.

Look, this case inspires great passions. It would have been great if Littlejohn (assuming its him, which I'm not doing) was off the street before he could commit another violent crime. It would be great if we could get all people off the street before they commit violent crime. But we can't. Should Littlejohn have been more obvious to folks as a violent threat? Yes, absolutely. But the fact of the matter is he served his time and he got out (the parole was a misnomer, since it was an automatic kick-in).

Lots of things went wrong here, from the head of the Federal parole board who didn't keep track of him (bank robbery is a Federal crime) to the local officials who didn't notify them so they could both keep an eye on him, to the Dorrians who didn't do a background check and then lied to the police to cover their tragic mistake. Maybe a three strikes law would have worked, maybe not. Those laws have been known to do more harm than good, also. But in the end, one man is guilty of this... the man who killed Immette. And it pisses us off so much that all we can do is scream at each other.

    But
