L Train, the MTA Punching Bag

Yesterday afternoon, an L train derailed when it left the train yards in Canarsie, and while service was disrupted only between Broadway Junction and Rockaway, last night's commute for all other points was a bit suckier than usual. Service is back to normal this morning, but with 10 minute delays (which must mean something more along the lines of "whenever it gets here, it gets here"). This is just another knock that L train riders are getting, what with the many weekends the L is out of service in order for the MTA to improve the line. Next, we expect the MTA to find a Hellmouth underneath the Montrose stop.

A "punching bag" that gets state of the art trains. While us posh B-train riders get the duct-tape express. Now the J,M,Z...that's the real punching bag.

    two-one-two...yes you are.

Thank goodness for this post. Now people can whine about the L train AND hipsters in the same space.

Williamsburg ceased to be relevant circa 2002. Hell, you know things went sour when T.O.N.Y. of all things had a big cover-story about the exodus of Brooklyn "pioneers" heading back into the city because they woke up and realized that parts of the city were the same price or cheaper.

Not to knock Brooklyn (as some of my good friends are from there), but there is the annoying "neo-Brooklyn type" that drives people up the wall. You know what I'm talking about. They go on and on about the amenities of Bushwick or Park Slope, and how there's a new corner bodega that carries imported gourmet cheese.

Does ANYONE even have a 212 phone number anymore? I feel like an old man.

I feel for the hardworking Brooklynites that are constantly stranded by the L's problems, but confining the idiot trust fund hipsters to Billyburg for the weekends is definitely a mitigating factor.

subway service in all of Brooklyn. sux.

    same story with the F, 2, 3, 4, 5 where

it's become the norm that lines are closed because of "maintenance"

uhm...it's not just hipsters that take the L. a lot of people rely on it for service and lately it has been ridiculous with the number of weekends it has not been available. does the MTA think that people don't work in the city on weekends? and, futhermore, when it is running the train hasn't been any less crowded during rush hour (sometimes i have to let 2 or 3 cars pass before i get in on GRAND ST.) and there certainly aren't more trains.

try waiting for an hour at 8th Ave. station after working a double shift and then riding home like sardines.
