Cindy Sheehan Arrested Outside the U.N.

While the NYPD may have been a little less arresty during the last Critical Mass, they are still making sure anti-war protesters are being put in their place. For instance, today Cindy Sheehan, the mother whose grief of her son's death in the Iraqi War has turned her into a high-profile anti-war symbol, was arrested outisde the American Mission to the United Nations. We realized this when we were looking at Yahoo News - check out these photographs of Sheehan being hauled away by New York's Finest. While Sheehan may have been breaking the law by blocking the entrance to the mission, the NYPD did give her what she probably wanted - moments where she seems to be dragged away humiliatingly.

During Sheehan's visit to NYC last fall, there was some debate about whether or not police or her supporters made her leave a protest.

Please. When's her book coming out again?

I am so sick of hearing about her.

at least she keeps anti-war activism in the news - since no one else in this country seems to care.

shame: exactly. She is certainly dedicated.

people treat anti-war sentiment like it's entertainment: like a fad, it loses its allure after a while. and so Cindy gets both arrested and the backlash ('oh, cindy sheehan? so OVER').

Isn't it presumptuous to assume that because people aren't protesting the war that they "don't care"? Maybe they are in favor of the war.

**hint** this is the part where someone lectures us about how much smarter and better educated New Yorkers are and that anyone in favor of the war is a red state simpleton.

It makes me hopeful to see Cindy Sheehan still out their standing up for her beliefs. I agree with Skip, war and protest aren't topics for Entertainment Tonight. This isn't about Lindsay Lohan, or a hot new club, or Hollywood. This war is reality. This war is insane. We should all be fighting for for truth and justice like Ms Sheenhan.

She seams to smile a bit too much for someone who's son was tragicaly killed in the war...
