Looks like the long anticipated opening of the Trader Joe's Wine Shop is coming nigh! Joe captured the enreddening of the awning letters, which means 2-buck-chuck is just a couple of weeks away from the shakey grasp of Union Square bums. Okay, we admit it-- Charles Shaw wine is somewhat tasty, and surprisingly, it does appear to be made from grapes. [Related: on January 18th, the NYTimes reported that the wine shop and the main Trader Joe's next door will open in NYU's Palladium building "in about three months," but Curbed is saying it could be as soon as March 17th.]

"Coming nigh," do you mean?
I actually called the Trader Joe's East Coast Customer Affairs rep and Jennifer politely confirmed that the March 17th opening date is official. Ahhh, it'll be so nice to not feel like we're being punished for wanting to buy healthy food.
They started stocking food in the place last week.

support your neighborhood independent retailer people
I'm going to buy a box of Depends, I'm so excited!! No more dragging TJ specialty items across the country from parental visits.
Bart, don't be harshing my mellow. I already support my independent landlord...while I'm happy to use my neighborhood hardware store, shoe repair etc., I shouldn't have to pay $2 more for toiletries and cereal. Everything adds up, and I think that most of us paying NY rents would agree we need a break somewhere.
ohhh man, oh man 2 dollar bottles of wine, i am so excited, i may buy them out the first day i go.
i heard the wine was three buck chuck, not two.
I had a *really* bad experience with Trader Joe's wine once... I don't advise it unless you've a strong stomach.
Totally psyched for the grocery store, though.
hey bart, what is wrong with providing natural foods (sometimes even organic, free range, fair trade) at reasonable prices to the masses? all chain stores are not equal. we can be socially responsible at every level...
All we need is a Target in Manhattan and I'll never need to leave the island ever again.
Bwa-haa-haa.
/very excited for TJ opening
//hates people who act like people who shop at big stores are Nazis.
