Kevin Weekes picked the perfect time to have his best game as a Ranger. New York stumbled out of the gate taking three penalties and committing multiple turnovers, but Weekes would not allow Philadelphia to score, despite facing 15 shots in the period. With Weekes allowing them to stay in the game, the Rangers hit their stride. Jaromir Jagr scored near the end of the first and the Rangers never looked back, destroying the Flyers 6-1.
As the Rangers got rolling, it seemed like Philadelphia was more interested in fighting than playing hockey. Their chief goon, Donald Brashear, consistently tried to goad the Rangers into a fight, but ended up taking stupid penalties which allowed the Rangers to pad their lead. Obviously frustrated, Brashear decked Kasparaitis as the game winded down and earned himself more penalties and a probable suspension. To cap off the night, Brashear decide to engage in some hate speech and called the new NHL “gay”.
The win increases the Rangers lead in the Atlantic Division to four points and kicks off a grueling stretch of 24 games in 48 nights to finish the season. New York will keep its’ fingers crossed that Jaromir Jagr’s groin injury doesn’t hold him back. Jagr left last night’s game with 12 minutes left, but said he could have kept playing if the game had been closer.

hell yeah! great performance by the Rangers- though the Flyers are missing many of their players to injury. And they played a game the previous night. Oh well, tough luck.
Flyers need to isolate Brashear and force him to retire. He's lacks both skill and class. Cut him from the organization.
i believe the nhl's new "gay" rules state that brashear will suffer a mandatory 1-game suspension for his 3rd period instigator.
there was also the hairpulling incident in the 2nd period that went largely uncommented on - i wonder if the league will take a look at that
The Flyers don't deserve any slack - they took 15 shots in the first period and were stuffed by an awesome Kevin Weekes.
