Another Hydroponic Pot Farm Bust

2006_03_drevil.jpgHydroponics are all the rage - with marijuana growing, that is. This is the second pot farm bust of the week, with police finding a marijuana operation in Queens worth over $1 million. It turns out that hydroponically grown pot is more potent, and therefore more expensive (the Post says $350 per ounce). With margins like that, Gothamist can see why pot dealers would be attracted to big spaces in Queens and Brooklyn to grow their bounty - somewhat lower rents, but close proximity to a huge market.

Over the weekend, the FDNY responded to a complaint about a leak in a Brooklyn apartment and found a hydroponic plant farm.

well, that'd be 350 from the grower to the distributor, who then sells to the dealer... plus you might add the delivery guys too.

it's not exactly to consumer price.

I love weed too, but it makes me paranoid, depressed, distrustful, and self deprecating now :( I wish it didnt, because I love smoking it so much.

I used to grow in college. I had a 12 tray drip system with a 1000 watt HID ballast and lots of fluorescent supplemental tubes. It was so much fun to raise a crop from start to finish, had a real sense of craft and accomplishment, and the smoke was so good, especially knowing that it wasnt molested by nefarious dealers before getting into my bowl. I am a strong advocate of growing your own for personal use. Such a shame this country is so corrupt as to favor the criminals and the police and all the parasitic industries that profit from the war on drugs.

*sigh*
