Extra, Extra

- A Gothamist tipper says that there are state troopers turning people away from the Comic-Con. Anybody know anything more?

- Remember Gifford Miller? NYU owns him now.

- A judge upheld a $2 million jury award for a couple whose stillborn infant was discarded before the family could conduct a religious burial.

- "A child welfare worker was arrested after screeners at Kennedy International Airport found two glass crack pipes in his carry-on luggage." Crack pipes? Really?

- A tipping point? Malcolm Gladwell has a blog.

- FYI: Probably not the best idea to run a business out of your dorm.

- And finally, come August 26, the Continental will no longer host live music.

The NYU student running the business out of his dorm did not say that getting kicked out was the hardest thing he's done in his life.

The article says he lived in Israel during the Gulf War and in crime-ridden South Africa.

The guy had to move all his crap out of the dorms and into a new place in NY. He was being facetious when he said that driving a big-ass moving truck in NYC traffic was the hardest thing he had ever done in his life.

NYU kids are pussies! This kid says how getting kicked out of the dorms was "the hardest thing he had ever done in his life."

  • The Continental has never "hosted" live music. It allows bands to play there for a fee, and also charges them $15 for a CD recorded off the sound board. Maybe musicians finally grew tired of the scam, and with St. Marks pizza having been gone for a while, that corner is kind of pointless anyway.

I don't understand the organizers. This is the first time ever there was a Comic Con of this size in NYC. And they held it at the Javits, which is a good choice. But they held it in one of the smaller halls. Not the big hall where Macworld was held, or any of the PC Expos, but one of the tiny ones on the bottom level. And what was in the main hall? A friggin Art Expo! Piss pour planning in full effect. They should have had the larger hall, no excuses.

I assume because there are just too many people at Comicon. They only have one third of the Javitz, and apparently like 50,000 people bought tickets. It's insanely crowded there.

Wow. the NY sun headline for the 2M suit wins the Marge Schott award for tasteful displays. Trash Tot? Jeez...

  • My husband took our baby boy to the Comic-Con and was turned away. Too many people according to fire marshal. Sadly, we were unable to have some weirdly costumed jiggly lady autograph the kid's diaper.
