Drink Up: Blue Owl

Don't believe the PR machine, this ain't no speakeasy.

Its just another dark lounge, except its in the basement and it has poor customer service/odd rules. They didn't let us move 2 chairs 2' closer to a bench on the wall so our group can actually communicate with one another. Then the waitress made my friend sit in a chait before he could order a drink. Apparantly the you must sit to drink rule was waived later in the evening when lots of people were standing.

Oh and the overhyped private room? Its a cold, barren, long & narrow grey brick space that they charge $70/person for 2 hrs of open bar. NO THANKS!

Yes,Blue Owl seems like a nice place, but the neighbors in the building and surrounding area are suffering with the loud music and loud talking, especially on the weekends. And the manager Ashley Smith seems combative when someone complains. But he is nice to his customers.

Blue Owl is fabulous. The impeccable service and fabulous drinks are complimented by an impeccable decorated interior. Blue Owl has a great happy hour and bar always seems to be all full with beautiful and friendly people.

Speakeasy or not, Blue Owl has the best tasting drinks I've had in really long time.

I descended into the lounge the other night with a few friends and was impressed by the great music, (not too loud, old school hip hop and beats)and what I must say was the best mojito I've had all summer.

The place wasn't ridiculously crowded and the bartenders are attentiveand most of all very talented.

this is my new happy hour spot. Don't bring a hundred people though, there's not a ton of space.
