Rap Battle: Lesbians vs. Hasids

Sometimes we stumble across a video that is so amazing that it almost defies words. This is not one of those videos, so here's the description: "A lesbian hippie-jew and a chassidic dude duke it out in rhyme at a Tu B'shvat seder in Park Slope." Honestly, it's still pretty fresh-- check out those ryhmes!

    (hey mobius!)

i too know the "lesbian" and didn't think she was one; good to know that it's just someone making up a inaccurate caption and not actually spreading secrets.

anyway, i've seen her rap before and this clip doesn't do her justice.

7 reasons you, "the viewer", did not get the full picture:

    1) how can you possibly know enough about this situation or these people to judge them?

    2) i was AT the seder in question. my girl held that session DOWN and whoever spliced up that video did no justice, thereby proving that

    3) certain people write the books and get the last words even when they might be inaccurate.

    4) why would you resort to name-calling and pigeon-holing ("lesbian" and "chasid")? you obviously didn't get the point of the whole battle.

    5) everyone at that seder wanted to be there or else they had already left. don't hate or judge.

    6) why are you name-callers settling for your own self-satisfied assessment of the situation? do you really think it's ok to use "dyke" as an insult and to dismiss a gathering of people as "jew hippies" just because you don't understand it?

    7) try to have some humility and understand that things are not just the 15-second clip you think you saw on a computer screen.

  • yes, new year of the trees. and being that s"y and i both know the sister in question, we can vouch, no she isn't lesbian. and since hasid means "righteous," just because you dress like a hasid that doesn't make you righteous.

  • I couldn't have put it better than yup. That just about says it all.

  • This event was a Tu Bishvat seder -- a kabbalistic meal celebrating the New Year of the Trees.

And the sister slinging rhymes is not a lesbian.

And, just because he's dressed that way, the brother isn't necessarily a chossid.

There's more than meets the eye....

  • That was hilarious! I just wonder what the event was, and why it was only lesbians and hasids.

  • oh jeez...i think i know everyone in that room

That's one of the funniest things I've ever seen - I'm sure they didn't intend it as such.
