MTA to Williamsburg: F-U

2006_2_ltrain1.jpg

Looks like the secret MTA plan to destroy Williamsburg has reached a climactic stage: shutting down the L-Train for two straight weekends in a row. Might be a nice time to re-condition your rusty old bike-- you're going to need it! [Note to Goth reader Samantha, who sent in the tip: even though the announcement says "Feb 26 to March 6", we think they only mean the weekends, not the weekdays. It is confusing, however-- on the announcement, it says "weekends", but on the full sign it doesn't. If it turns out to be a 10-day no-L(ove)-fest, we wouldn't be the least surprised.]

i don't think the MTA is the only one who is telling williamsburg to go F themselves, i think the rest of the population of TRUE new yorkers are.

Yes, it's true about the TRUE New Yorkers. For example, last night, I watched the ghost of an Indian chasing a Dutchman chasing Alexander Hamilton chasing the Duke of York who punched me in the face. Dickhead

Ever noticed how the comments on Gothamist are unnecessarity nasty and combative? Why is that? Williamsburg is just a place to live, no need to bunchify the ol' pantaloons.

I always laugh at these idiots who claim they are the "true" people of some place. It's like a perverted form of racism. The point is, no matter how far back your lineage, there's always someone who was there before you. Unless you're a duck billed platypus.

This is the time to begin your love affair with the J/M/Z. Explore scenic South Williamsburg! On your way to the Bedford runway, stop at the unjustly undiscovered Aldo's diner on S. 4th just off Havemeyer. Cheap cheap cheap and it's been owned by the same family for decades. Party like it's 1979! Right around the corner is Roulette, a cool vintage furniture store run by film set designers on their days off. All worth it. Or I guess you could get an expensive steak.

Seriously emily! The J and M train (WTF does the Z actually do, I never see it) are great. The unfortunate reality is they are the underdogs, colored brown and only stopping in manhattan for a few locations and transfer spots. But yeah, ride that train at Marcy. It runs, like every minute or something and goes to Delancy, Essex and Canal St.

The MTA isn't telling Williamsburgers to go "F themselves." They're telling them to "Go to L."

Forget about this! I am more concerned about that elusive train line that would pass through all the FAKE city hang outs.

It's called the "H" train, starting in Bedford and ending in SoBro.

re the first comment... clearly. because all true new yorkers wish death on the L train, cause obviously it stops at bedford and serves no one but hipsters. fuck those fake new yorkers who live in bushwick, canarsie, and all points in between. who gives a fuck if their commute to anywhere has been extended by a half hour to hour? bitches ain't real new york anyway, right?

ass.

Now, everyone knows NYers wish death on the L because it goes to CANARSIE.

Aw Jeez Kevin! I thought you loved every part of the city.

I hear you on the F train. The F goes down all the time, but it doesn't cause such a fuss. Probably it's because the people on the F line aren't spoiled soccermom transplants like the people on the first couple of stops on the L are, apparently.
