CXB Found Guilty of LOTS of Harrassment

Whoa!!! Christopher X. Brodeur, the performance artist / mayoral candidate / rabblerouser, was found guilty on 21 counts of harrassment! That means he's most likely going up the river for a while. You may remember that CXB was arrested in January, but this trial was actually for harassment stemming from a dispute with his landlord. He's going to stand trial for harassing the Mayor's press office later in the year-- and then he's going to stand trial for harassing a writer at the Observer. That's a lot of harassment! CXB's favorite tactics tend to involve distributing email calling people crazy names and then calling them repeatedly (hundreds or thousands of times over the course of a couple of months). He also likes to make veiled threats, well, when veiled is saying he wants to shoot you in the face, that may have played a role in today's convictions.

His campaign manager and friend Jessy Delfino explains what happened at the trial:

His charges of harrassment and aggrivated harrassment (regarding annoying and sometimes seemingly aggressive calls he made) is a misdemeanor charge. Though Christopher has no prior record of violent crime and has obeyed every restraining order ever placed against him, he was remanded immediately, which means he was taken to jail on the spot once he received a guilty verdict. Many people in his position would be let go until the next court date to get sentenced. Even though his sentencing date was set for March 8th, he was refused bail (though there was already bail on this case) and taken immediately to jail to be subject to now a THIRD psychological evaluation. This is not a 730 remand psychiatric evaluation, this is a judge-ordered psychiatric evaluation to determine how to "best sentence Christopher".
Remanded immediately? Wow - that is hardcore. But if we know CXB, we're sure he's distributing handwritten letters complaining about the warden and prison guards in capital letters. We'll follow-up on this tomorrow morning, or whenever CXB's next email arrives in our inbox.

SPECIAL BONUS: all 17340 words that CXB sent out in the last 10 days (six emails!).

So, all this time, pugsley was the Blike Troller. Pugsley, the right-winged kid who loves CBGB because he loves to "stick it to the man," if I'm not mistaken.

user-pic

Damn Blike! Last time you accused Nola, now it's poor Pugsley!

user-pic

I'm not a mind reader, and as before, I admitted my mistake. Sorry, all of your comments sound so similar I get you all mixed up. Sort of like the Indian restaurants on 6th Street.

I feel Danish.

user-pic

I will miss the great CXB!!!!!!!!!

user-pic

i feel confused.

user-pic

So glad he will be behind bars... One less shameless self-promoter roaming the streets of New York.

I hope he gets the death sentence or his tongue removed.

user-pic

Save CXB!! He'll always be my mayor. Where do I send all of my harassing letters demanding that he be let off scot free?

Obviously, The Great CXB is a Political Prisoner of the Bourgeois class.

Ok, I could type that but not say it out loud with a Straight face...

user-pic

Somebody take him out of his misery... and mine.

CXB looks like Frank T.J. Mackey yelling "Respect the cock!" in this photo.

Yes, the guy is annoying and yes, he's a loony. But really now, how can this guy go to jail so swifty and for so long for his mouth, yet actual criminals can walk free? Take a step back and take a look at the princples at stake here. And also think about yourselves, a bunch of people holding pitchforks and torches calling for the man's death or imprisonment for his mouth. I love America.

Chris is a good guy. Probably says things he shouldn't sometimes but he doesn't deserve to go to jail.

And in the political realm, here's a guy who really cares, which is worthy of our respect. (I got Anthony Weiner to admit during the mayoral campaign that many of Chris' ideas were good.)

I'm with the poster who wondered how Chris could be sent up the river while actual criminals (many in our federal government) remain free. This society greatly needs a priorities check.

I'm with morticia and Ellen James Society. People who annoy me belong behind bars and should be silenced. That's how we roll in America.

Okay Lederer, I'll start digging the tunnel - you smuggle in the file.

Seriously though, there's no way in hell this guy should be in jail. Did I take my ex boyfriend to court for calling me repeatedly and yelling stupid threats? No. And my ex boyfriend was nowhere near as inventive and entertaining with his insults as CXB, so I should've been much more likely to do so.

He has no history of violence. He doesn't belong in jail.

Christopher is charged with a misdemeanor. That's like someone going to jail for a year for shoplifting 21 hotdogs. He hasn't been sentenced yet so it's unsure how long he'll be given, but that he was remanded immediately is a very bad sign.

RE: Christopher X. Brodeur

In it, mention your experience with Christopher and your opinion on him sitting in jail.

If you'd like to see him "rot in jail", remember that he is "rotting in jail" for being annoying. If someone can rot for being annoying, well, what else can they go to jail for?

How many husbands and boyfriends have actually threatened girlfriends with violence or death (making a clear threat - "I am going to come to your house with a gun and kill you fucking bitch!" and then been given restraining orders and told to beat it? People such as Vincent Pastore:

"...the 58-year-old Pastore battered Lisa Regina while the couple was seated in an automobile on Mott Street. The actor, who was hit with four misdemeanors, allegedly punched Regina in the back of the head, slammed her head into the auto's gear shift, and yanked her out of the car. As a result of this treatment, investigators charge, Regina, 44, was left bruised, swollen, and in "substantial pain." "

Incidentally, Vincent Pastore was arraigned the same day as Christopher. Well, he was told to get lost while Christopher was sent to Riker's for 17 days.

Christopher doesn't call people crazy names or make veiled threats. He is vocally colorful and I find him to be quite amusing. That's because I know his sense of humor and I appreciate it. If he was making a threat, it would be very clear. He would say something like, "You better watch out, because I am coming to your house and I am going to kill you. On Wednesday." Now THAT'S a threat.

If Christopher should go to jail for saying, "I will never kill you guys. What I would consider doing is making sure the rest of your life is complete hell, whether that's lighting you on fire, ha ha ha uh, no, I'm not going to light you on fire. But we'll come up with some very, very creative things." (Such as hanging posters up all over the LES...that is what he meant.) Then, why aren't I in jail for this?

This appears to be a veiled threat about killing the president that has circled the world hundreds of times.

Is it because it's set to music? Is it because I look so cute?

He also testified that in his messages, he tries to make the speech almost inflammatory enough that you want to listen or have to listen to the entire thing (instead of just deleting it.)

In his messages he says over and over again, "This is not a threat. I'm not going to murder Paul." (his landlord)

And also remember, when he was given a restraining order, he obeyed it. He didn't make any more calls. But unlike most people,Chris was given a restraining order and arrested on the same day. Most people are given a restraining order and then the court waits to see what happens. But if you're a dirt bag landlord and a contributor to the DA's campaign, it works differently. You don't own illegal buildings in NYC and mistreat tenants and manage to stay in business without greasing someone's palms. You nay sayers are supporting that kind of rif raf, and Christopher would not. Even if Christopher is in jail over it, and I wish he had done things differently, I like his way better than your way, which is to be supportive of the land lord creep and chastise the victims. Christopher has got some balls, and some integrity.

Don't be so oblivious to our constitutional rights being flushed down the toilet.

Sorry this was so long.

I was convicted of ATTEMPTED AGGRIVATED HARRASSMENT and appealing the probation sentence now. This 240.30 law is unconstitutional on it's face and a tool for the nazi cops, DAs and those in with their power trip. Free speech is only part of it on the phone. No legitament purpose and intent to harrass fall into play. JAIL is a business as is the pyschiatric evaluation, anger management, child support office, etc. Got Constitution?

user-pic

1.
YES, the 240.30 penal law is TOTALLY unconstitutional, but it's another of their post-9/11 scams to give them absolute power.

EX: it says that ANYONE who "annoys" another human being via PRINT or phone can go to jail for a year!

a) you could lock up every human on that!
b) the Supreme Court and fed courts have long-ago decided "annoying" speech is totally protected.

2.
Remember, the LAST "conviction" they got one of City Hall's appointed judges to hit me with was tossed out as fake by FIVE UNANIMOUS appeal judges.

Hmm!

3.
To my detractors, be careful what you wish for.

You got it: I'm retiring from politics and you're left with Ben Smith, Betsy Gotbaum, Andrew Cuomo, Mike BLoomberg, and the rest.

Enjoy!
