Queens residents and people headed to JFK, be on the watch for a skinny, most likely hyper dog that responds to the name "Vivy." Her real name is Ch. Bohem C'est La Vie, and the three-year old whippet had just won an Award of Merit at the Westminster Dog Show, when she apparently went missing at JFK Airport yesterday. Authorities aren't sure how Vivy got out of her cage, the cage apparently was keyless. Delta told the NY Times, "We are working with the local authorities to retrieve the animal" but left it at that because Vivy is a customer and there's a customer privacy policy. Her owner, Jill Walton, who was told about Vivy's disappearance while waiting for the plane to take-off, is worried about Vivy in the cold. And the authorities are taking this very seriously: There was a helicopter involved in the search.
JFK Airport covers 4900 acres. And here is more information about whippets.

dog ran away? c'est la vie.
I'll bet anything an employee opened the crate "just to pet" the poor dear. I know people who put "vicious dog" stickers on the carrier when they fly so that no one is tempted to go near it.
The city can invest hundreds of man hours searching for a stupid dog (along with use of a helicopter - can't be cheap), and they can't afford to do other, apparently less important things. Like, say, put more money towards foser care, education, helping the homeless? If I were the mayor, I'd tell the dog owner she was shit outta luck, or at least make sure this work was being done on the airline's bill.
i think i saw the dog in Cleveland this morning.
I can't believe those of you who take such a emphathetic attitude- Obviously you don't have a pet of your own, because if you did, you would understand that they are like your children. I'm so sick of people who take this attitude with animals like they don't matter- in my opinion, losing my dog would be like losing a child. Couple that with the fact that this is clearly either a) the airline, or b) the airport's fault, and therefore it is their responsibility to take measures to find the dog.
Losing a dog is like losing a child?? That's messed up.
i can't believe the insensitive postings from people on this site. you may not care what happens to this poor dog but you should keep your hateful calous feelings to yourself. hopefully you will never be lost in the cold. you people need to check yourself and your conscience. remember a dog is a living creature that deserves all the consideration and sympathy a human deserves
