The Strand Makes a Big Sale

When we were little we were always a smidge terrified that we were going to get lost in the Strand (before the renovation it really did seem like a possibility!). We only got over that fear in high school, we mean, there were just so many incredible books there...

But now there is one less. The Strand, that classic New York bookstore, just made one hell of a book sale, the Villager reports. How big? How's $100,000 for one book sound to you?

Granted, the book was the William Shakespeare's Second Folio published in 1632 but wow, the Strand can probably buy another few miles of books with that cash.

Of course, it did take 25 years for them to move the book out of their rare book collection (which also houses such strange finds as a copy of Ulysses signed by James Joyce and Henri Matisse!) but it must be bittersweet though, to give up such a rare book...
